888 Casino is a well-known and massively popular brand. They’ve won multiple awards during their nearly two-decade tenure online. Awards like Best Casino Operator 2015 and Best Online Casino of the year.

You don’t win those sorts of awards by doing your customers wrong.

888 is also listed on the London Stock Exchange. They’re licenses are from the United Kingdom Gambling Commission and Gibraltar Gaming Commission – both highly reputable gaming regulators in the gambling market.

The point of all this? You can trust them. They couldn’t get away with ripping you off even if they wanted to.

(They don’t have to rip anyone off, though. They cleared more than $450 million in 2014.

They’re a good brand to have an account with. Especially if you don’t already have an account with one of the other UK / European heavy-hitting gambling companies, like Bet365 or William Hill.

The following review will tell you more about them so you can decide whether or not 888 Casino is what you’re looking for.

Gambling Options at 888

888 is a megabrand who operates a sportsbook, casino, poker room, bingo hall and online arcade.

The following review covers only their casino. Trust us, that’s going to be more than enough for most online gamblers.

What’s unique about their casino – and one of the perks to gambling at regulated sites – is all the software companies they work with.

This includes:

  • Random Logic Software
  • GamesOS
  • Electracade
  • Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment
  • WagerWorks Software
  • NextGen
  • Blueprint Gaming
  • Endemol Games
  • Net Entertainment
  • Amaya Software
  • Scientific Games

The benefit to working with so many software companies is that 888 Casino can offer a large and diverse selection of table games, video poker and slot machines.

This will apply more to slots than other games. One company will create 100% unique slot games while another will take a fresh spin on a recognized theme, while another will license and create slots around popular movies, people and pop culture.

So, seeing so many software companies should get you excited.

And with that, let’s look at what specifically you can play at 888 Casino.

888 Casino Games

You’ll have more than 100 games to choose from across their selection of table games, video poker games, slot machines and live casino.

One thing we’re sort of surprised about is the volume of games. Considering how many software companies 888’s working with, you’d think they’d clear 250 games easily. And many of their competitors do.

We’re guessing they must be taking a quality over quantity approach. Though, fewer games usually does mean fewer variations – which you’ll see in a second.

Here’s a list of games you can play and any thoughts we may have.

Casino Table Games

  • Baccarat (Random Logic)
  • Roulette (Random Logic)
  • Craps (Random Logic)
  • Pai Gow Poker (Random Logic)
  • Caribbean Poker (Random Logic)
  • Baccarat (WagerWorks)
  • Three Card Poker (WagerWorks)
  • Match 3 (WagerWorks)
  • Power Blackjack (WagerWorks)
  • Three Reel Hold-up (WagerWorks)
  • Three Card Second Chance (WagerWorks)
  • Baccarat (Net Entertainment)
  • Caribbean Stud Poker (Net Entertainment)
  • Red Dog (Net Entertainment)
  • Roulette (Net Entertainment)
  • Casino Hold ‘Em (Net Entertainment)
  • Golden Derby (Net Entertainment)
  • Oasis Poker (Net Entertainment)
  • TXS Hold ’em (Net Entertainment)
  • Baccarat (Amaya)
  • Casino War (Amaya)
  • Caribbean Stud Poker (Amaya)
  • Let it Ride (Amaya)
  • Red Dog (Amaya)
  • Texas Hold ‘Em Bonus (Amaya)
  • 3 Card Poker (Amaya)
  • Triple Action Hold ‘Em (Amaya)
  • Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em (Amaya)

One thing worth pointing out here is how they have a couple different software variations of some of their games. We’re not sure if people will truly care about how one baccarat game looks compared to another.

That said, sometimes different software companies will mean different payouts, side bets or odds for the same game. So that’s something you may want to explore if you see multiple options of the game you want to play.

Blackjack

Here are the blackjack options:

  • Multihand Blackjack
  • American Blackjack
  • Classic Blackjack
  • High Limit Blackjack

We’re surprised to see so few blackjack games, especially blackjack variations. Heck, you can go to any Real Time Gaming casino and find 7-10+. Or any Microgaming casino and find 10-15+.

This selection will probably satisfy most players. But hardcore blackjack enthusiasts might be happier elsewhere.

Video Poker

Your options include:

  • All American Double Up
  • Jacks or Better
  • Joker Wild Double Up
  • Deuces Wild Double Up
  • Aces and Faces
  • Tens or Better
  • Bonus Poker

We have the same thoughts here. It’d be great to see more video poker variations. Most casinos we’ve reviewed offer 10-15, often not including multi-hand variations.

Roulette

888 Casino’s roulette options include:

  • European Roulette
  • American Roulette
  • 3D Roulette
  • French Roulette
  • Low Stakes Roulette

Nothing much to note here other than this is a lager selection of roulette variations you’ll find at most small to medium-sized casinos.

Slots

888 Casino has a much smaller selection of slots than we first expected. Here’s what they have:

  • Jacks Pot
  • Irish Riches
  • The Big Lebowski
  • Millionaire Genie
  • Starburst
  • Treasure Fair
  • Pirates Millions
  • Twin Spin
  • A Nightmare on Elm Street
  • The Glorious 50s
  • Saved By the Bells
  • Once Upon A Dime
  • Giants Gold
  • Zeus
  • Ultimate Universe
  • Ultimate Grill Thrills
  • Leprechauns Luck
  • Steampunk Nation
  • Dawn of The Dinosaurs
  • Ghost In The Shell
  • Fairest of Them All
  • Adventures In Orbit
  • Gonzos Quest
  • Ruby Slippers
  • Jack And The Beanstalk
  • Raging Rhino
  • Cleopatra
  • KISS
  • Snack Time
  • Fantastic Four
  • Jack Hammer
  • Reel Rush
  • Casino Reels
  • Wild Gambler
  • Ramasses Riches
  • Rainbow Riches
  • Freaky Fruit
  • City Life
  • Victorious
  • Party Pigs
  • Zuma
  • South Park
  • Top Spin Snooker
  • Fruit Shop
  • Doctor Love
  • Clash of The Titans
  • Spartacus

The volume of slots is probably the weakest aspect. However, we see several licensed slots here, including Fantastic Four, KISS, South Park and A Nightmare on Elm Street. The South Park slot is a blast if you’re a fan of the show.

Live Casino

888 Casino offers live dealer games, too. This is great for people who like playing live, but for someone reason just can’t make the trip as often as they’d like.

Your live game options include:

  • Roulette
  • Blackjack
  • Casino Holdem
  • Baccarat
  • 3-Card Poker

What we thought was unique is how they have 14 different dealers, a mix of both men and women. That said, all their dealers are white. They don’t appear to have dealers with different ethnic backgrounds, such as (the popular) Asian dealers.

Another bit of good news – their live dealer games are compatible with iOS and Android mobile devices.

Casino Mobile Games

888 has a small selection of mobile-compatible games. These titles include:

  • Millionaire Genie
  • Irish Riches
  • Nightmare on Elm Street
  • Pirates Millions
  • Spartacus
  • Jack’s Pot
  • Treasure Fair
  • Ultimate Universe
  • Once Upon A Dime
  • Snack Time

Their mobile app is compatible with iOS and Android.

We’re shocked 888 doesn’t offer a MUCH bigger selection of mobile compatible games. Especially blackjack, video poker or table games. We hope this is something they plan to change in the future.

888 wagering

Important: Keep in mind that if you take 888 up on an offer (namely a deposit bonus) on one of their properties, you’re not eligible for another (welcome) bonus.

Complaints

There aren’t many complaints and no legitimate scam complaints we could find. No one’s bad-mouthing these guys in forums or in blog post comments. Most everything else we found is more than a couple years old.

However, we did find a recent review from the website, ThePogg.com. They’re one of the few sites that don’t recommend 888. We wanted to address some of the comments they made.

Their problems with 888 include:

  • 888’s unwilling to engage with a 3rd party mediator (for customer complaints/problems).
  • 888 has been known to confiscate players’ funds, while only citing (vague) bonus terms as their reason.
  • 888 has refused to pay out winnings if the player has claimed bonuses at their other properties. But (ThePogg.com claims) 888 hasn’t told players what those properties are.
  • 888 hasn’t paid players who self-excluded themselves at one of their casinos, only to later play at another one of their casinos. They won money, but 888 didn’t pay them.
  • The software company, Dragonfish, runs a baccarat game ThePogg.com says they found to be mis-advertising the payout for two different bets. The Pogg says they tried to contact the software company, but haven’t received a response.
  • 888 has closed many profitable affiliate accounts using general account closure terms because affiliates weren’t generating enough leads, though the number of leads remains unspecified.

We couldn’t find these claims elsewhere. It’s possible they’re buried in Google’s results or that maybe some of these complaints or problems were from months or years ago.

That said, here are some of our thoughts about their claims:

  • 888 has the right to work with whomever they want, however they want. They’re not required to work with affiliates, nor are they required to work with every affiliate. Many companies choose to cull or prohibit lower volume partners for management purposes, not just them (888).
  • 888 doesn’t have to agree to 3rd party mediators. They can work with THEIR customers however they see best as a company.
  • 888 DOES mention their properties in their bonus terms. Here’s what we dug up:
Info Box Icon

“If a member has already received a Welcome Bonus from related 888games or 777 accounts, they will not be eligible to receive the 888 Casino welcome bonus. A member who has received an 888 Casino Welcome Bonus may still hold or open 888games or 777 accounts, but will not be eligible for the 888games Welcome Bonus.”

We take this to mean their sites 888Games.com and 777.com – both of which are owned by 888. This is pretty straightforward. But, again, if you have any questions you should reach out to their support. There’s no excuse for ‘not knowing’ when you can reach out at any time. There needs to be some personal responsibility or accountability here.

The same goes for the self-exclusion. You shouldn’t be playing online if you’re self-excluding yourself. And all of 888’s properties are well-branded. It’s hard to miss them.

The one thing we cannot dispute is the baccarat claim.

Overall, we feel these claims are unwarranted. While 888 isn’t perfect – and who is? – they have the right to run their business how they see fit. Their terms are there for those who want to read them. And they have round the clock support for anyone who has a question.

Beyond that, it’s important to realize that ThePogg.com, and any other website reviewing online casinos, including us, are paid a commission for recommending players to online casinos. So, you should understand there may be some bias or underlying reason why a review portal would give poor marks to an online casino most people would agree is top-notch.

Conclusion

888’s a solid choice. You really can’t go wrong here.

They have a good selection of games from a powerhouse lineup of software providers. The only one that’s missing is Microgaming.

We would like to see more games. Specifically, a more diverse selection of blackjack and video poker games. And, we’d like to see a larger selection of mobile games overall.

But that hasn’t stopped them from winning awards. And it looks like their customers are plenty happy with what they offer.

We think you will be too. But the only way to find out is to head their now and create an account.
