Jim Beviglia's Biography

Jim’s interest in sports began as a youngster, as he fell in love with the Minnesota Vikings and New Jersey (now Brooklyn) Nets, still his favorite franchises. He thought he wanted to be a play-by-play announcer for the sports he loved, which is why he majored in broadcast journalism at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications. Indeed, announcing has been a major part of his career. He called high school basketball and football games out of college and has held down a long-standing gig as the race caller at a local horse racing establishment.

In addition to online gambling, one of Jim’s other major interests is music. He has been doing freelance work for various music sites and magazines for two decades. Jim loves his gambling writing because it takes him back to when he was a kid. His Dad worked as a teller at a local race track and would show him how to handicap the races and pick winners. And he loved listening to his uncles talk about the lines for college and NFL football each weekend, debating who the best bets were. In those days, the only outlets they had to bet was the local bookmaker.
