My Experience at Betway
I wanted to write this Betway review based on real gameplay, so I deposited £100 and gave it a go. Of course, being such a big brand, I’d heard of Betway before, but I hadn’t actually played until now.
Overall, my experience at Betway was great. It has an outstanding sportsbook with lots of markets and competitive odds. Its casino is second to none, with over 1,000 games in all categories powered by trusted software providers. Fast, secure payouts and two legit gaming licences are the cherries on the cake.
Is Betway perfect? Definitely not. I experienced some frustration waiting almost two hours to connect with a customer support agent, and the support email no longer works. However, this is somewhat mitigated by the awesome FAQ section Betway has put together that answers most questions.

Betway offers payouts via debit cards, PayPal, Trustly, and bank transfer. All of these offer fee-free, fast payouts that will be with you in between 24-48 hours. I always use PayPal as it offers same-day payouts.
I touch on this in more detail later. While the customer support team was friendly and helpful, it took me more than two hours to get in touch via live chat. That’s just too slow!
While Betway offers world-class casinos and sportsbooks, it doesn’t offer poker against other people. You can play plenty of casino poker games in the live casino (see below), but poker tournaments or games against other players aren’t an option here.

The Betway sports welcome bonus is a single £10 bonus bet. You’ll need to make a deposit of £10 with a debit card (no other payments are included) and wager it to qualify.
To count towards the wagering requirements, you’ll need to place bets at the following odds:

This is a decent sports welcome offer that’s simple to understand and claim. Now, let’s take a look at what Betway has in store for its new casino players.

Again, it’s a no-frills, simple welcome bonus that’s easy to understand and claim. It’s not the biggest I’ve ever seen, but I’ll take an honest, smaller offer over a convoluted larger one a day. Do be aware that you have to use a debit card to activate this bonus – no other payment method counts.
I do think 50x wagering requirements are a tad too high, and Betway could chop these down to as low as 30x to make the offer more appealing. Keep in mind that game weighting also applies, as follows:
- Bets on slots and parlour games count 100% towards wagering.
- Table games like roulette, poker, and blackjack count 8%.
- Video poker wagers also count 8% towards wagering.
- Other games count 0% towards wagering.
In case you still don’t understand game weighting, let me give you an example. If you bet £10 on slots, £10 will count towards wagering. If you bet the same £10 on blackjack, only £0.80 will count. Stick to slots and parlour games to have the maximum chance of wagering your bonus.
Let’s now shift focus to the bonuses available for regulars. Betway has plenty in store for those who stick around.
For those who wager at least £25 per week, the Betway Free Bets Club should appeal. You’ll get two bets worth £5 as a reward.
To qualify, the £25 you wager has to be on sports multiples or Bet Builder bets with three or more selections at combined odds of 3.00 (2/1).
Qualifying bets need to be made between Saturday to Friday in order to qualify for a free bet the following Saturday and the second one of the following Monday.
Betway’s casino rewards club gives players who deposit at least £20 per week a reward each Friday. The more you deposit between Monday and Thursday, the better your reward will be.

What’s the market depth like? Good, but not the best I have seen. Let’s take soccer, for example. You can bet on outrights, total goals, total goals 1.5, total goals 2.5, total goals 3.5, double chance, both teams to score, and live bets. Click on any league to see the current and upcoming matches.
While Betway offers action on most sports, soccer is its strongest. The markets bet is pretty thin when you get down to e.g. futsal, but you can still make outright bets on it.
Now, let’s look at some of the best Betway sportsbook features. These are extras you won’t necessarily find elsewhere, and they make the experience of betting with Betway better.
Betway has a Bet Builder tool to help you put together unique bets. In Betway’s own words, you ‘combine selections and build your own bet pre-game or in-play.’
While most veteran sports bettors will know how this works, allow me to demonstrate for those of you who don’t. Using the Bet Builder, you can make multiple selections and receive unique odds for the bet you’ve built. Here’s how it works:
1. Select the match you want to bet on.
2. Hit the ‘BetBuilder’ tab.
3. Select the markets you want to include. You can pick up to 10.
4. Enter the stake you want to wager.
5. Confirm your bet and wait for it to play out.
This is a cool feature that lets you build more complex multi-leg bets with potentially high payouts. It can be fun to play around with, but it’s probably wise to build up a bit of experience betting on sports before you try to pull off a bet like this.
What sports and leagues are included in the Betway bet builder? For now, only soccer. I checked every sport on the menu, and it’s only available in the soccer category. I’d like to see it expand out to other sports in the future.
Sometimes, a bet is going the way you want (or the other way), and you wish you could take your winnings or cut your losses now. With Betway’s cash-out feature, you can. You’ll always be able to see the current cash-out value of your bet and can exercise that option at any time.
The cashout feature isn’t available on every wager, so you’ll have to check on a case-by-case basis. However, it’s almost always available when it comes to popular sports like football, tennis, boxing, etc.
Betway offers live streams of some of the biggest sporting events. This is a useful tool if you want to follow along and place your in-play bets at the exact right moment. The list of sports covered includes soccer, basketball, tennis, and many more.

This is a decent number of ways to pay and get paid. Debit cards, the UK’s most popular e-wallet, and fast bank transfers will do it for most people. All of the deposits and payouts are fee-free, too.
While a £5 minimum deposit is great, the £500 limit on every payment method is limiting. High-stakes players might find that annoying, but it can be increased as you climb through the VIP levels.
As for payouts, all of these are fast. Several of them, like Trustly, are instant, but it takes Betway 24/48 hours to verify them. In most cases, you’ll have your money the same day.
In case you’re wondering, you can not use credit cards to deposit at Betway. The UK Gambling Commission has banned them at all its licensed casinos. That’s probably a good thing in the grander scheme of things!

I didn’t use these payment methods at Betway, but I have used Trustly before. It’s fast, but it involves a 1.5% fee (£0.80 minimum). That said, you’ll get your money as fast as the cashier verifies it, so if you’re in a hurry, it can be worth it to use Trustly or Vyne.
PayPal is the payment method I used at Betway. It’s fast and secure, and what I like best is that it acts as a middleman between my bank account and the gambling site. By using it, you don’t store any sensitive payment details with the site, and your gambling transactions are segregated from your accounts.
PayPal does not charge fees if you use GBP-GBP. However, it does have fairly hefty currency conversion fees (up to 3%), so if you’re switching currencies to deposit at Betway, be aware of that.
You can also opt for standard bank transfers. You’ll have to select your bank from the list, log into your internet banking app, and confirm the payment when making a deposit.

It’s good to see Betway has support available to all players from 08:00 to 23:00 GMT. However, I have to call it out for its response time. I got locked out of my account, the reset link didn’t work properly, and it took me over 60 minutes to get connected to a live chat operator.
This is slow for a top-tier online gambling site. I’ve contacted many busy casinos, and the slowest response time I’ve had before is 10 minutes. Waiting over an hour in a queue of 55 people isn’t a great look for one of the leading betting brands.
Nonetheless, when I got over the initial hurdle, the support agent, Marco, was pleasant and friendly. He helped me reactivate my account and answered my other questions in a direct way.
As for email, I’m afraid it’s not good, either. I got a response saying the email is no longer monitored and will not be responded to. It redirected me to the help page with answers to frequently asked questions.
There’s room for improvement when it comes to customer support at Betway, but given I got my initial issue resolved in the end, and the operators were polite and professional, I don’t want to be too hard on them.
