Deposit & Payout Options

Although mainly known for its sportsbook, is an “all-in-one” gambling site, providing casino and poker games as well. It ranks third in our overall US rankings and is trusted among US gamblers.

The only time they’ve had any significant negative press was around 2011 when problems piled-up with the launch of their poker site (more about that lower). has operated since 2004 (its roots go back to 1991, though) and is currently licensed in Panama. If you’re wondering about the weird domain, the site started as but moved to .ag in 2012 due to increased pressure from the Department of Justice (the DOJ seized many .com gambling domains in 2011). They and many others took a precautionary measure and changed domain names.

Is BetOnline Legit?

Yes, they are absolutely one of the most legit options in 2018 for US players and are in no way a scam. Don’t believe a few people who may bash BetOnline because they lost some money and weren’t happy about it.

Aside from being safe and paying out winnings, they offer a ton of betting options and casino games as well. We break all of that down in more detail later in this review.

What’s Good?

BetOnline accepts customers from all 50 states as one of the only sites doing so (in fact, we were unable to find any other with a similar reputation). According to reports at several gambling forums, their customers have great success with credit card deposits so they get a top grade for accessibility.

Depositing money to gambling sites and (even more-so) withdrawing money from them has been a problem for US gamblers ever since 2006 and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. BetOnline provides perhaps the best banking options in the US market in terms of variety.

The sportsbook is a good fit for those looking to bet on American sports although they offer a decent amount of international betting markets as well. While signing-up at BetOnline may not be essential for non-US bettors, it definitely is that for US bettors, since there are few legitimate U.S. sportsbooks and this is one of them.

With 10+ years in the business, plenty of American betting options and banking options, plus top-class reputation, U.S. should seriously consider signing up at

What’s Bad?

True to our style, we like to deliver the bad news early. This way you’ll get to know about possible deal-breakers right away without wasting any more time on this BetOnline review, although I doubt there are any deal-breakers in this case. I already mentioned the problems following the launch of BetOnline Poker in 2011. If you’re wondering what kind of problems they were specifically, here are the main points:

  • They claimed to be on their own network even though they were on Action Poker network. Lying to customers is a weird way to start doing business. (Action Poker is known as Chico Poker nowadays.)
  • Their customer service representatives knew everyone’s passwords which was revealed during a live chat session with a customer – obviously, this should never happen and passwords should be stored in an incomprehensible form.
  • At first, customers were able to play on multiple accounts using the same internet connection, which is a rookie security error. There should be no way for two accounts to play using the same internet connection.
  • Several people complained on the forums about BetOnline confiscating their money, and the amounts were in the tens of thousands of dollars. While potentially alarming, in these cases, however, it’s worth pointing out that people often complain about these things when they’re caught cheating, and there seemed to be quite a bit of cheating going on around that time).

It’s a different story in 2018. The reputation of BetOnline Poker has improved throughout the past few years and we view it as one of the best options for U.S. players. Furthermore, its sports betting and casino operations have always had solid reputations. They’re one of our top recommendations for a reason.

We have two current BetOnline complaints: quality of customer support and banking fees. The customer support department has shown some improvement, it still needs work in terms of response times and friendliness. You also need to pay a 6% fee for card deposits on top of cashout fees (most US sites allow free card deposits and at least one free check withdrawal per month).

Deposits and Cashouts

As mentioned in the introduction, BetOnline’s customers are reporting high success rates with credit card deposits (relative to the rest of the U.S. online gambling industry). If you’re going to have success with your card deposit at some U.S.-friendly gambling site, it’s likely at BetOnline. Furthermore, the site offers a surprisingly wide variety of banking options for its U.S. customers:

BetOnline Deposit Methods

BetOnline accepts credit and debit cards by Visa, Mastercard, Bitcoin, JCB and Diner’s Club (apparently, they also accept Amex deposits but you need to have deposited at least five times already in order to use Amex) in addition to “Visa via Person to Person” and secure payment vouchers (Visa).

Card deposits have a 6% deposit fee. BetOnline is one of the only U.S. sites charging any fee at all for card deposits (the other one being Bovada at 4.9%).

Even though BetOnline has one of the highest credit card success rates in the US market, some of you are going to be unsuccessful with your card deposits, in which case you’re going to have to settle with one of the other options above or use a credit card indirectly with some of these methods – for example, you can fund your Western Union account with a credit card.

BetOnline Cashout Methods

You can also request a withdrawal to your credit card (rare in the US market) but only after making at least five deposits and having your account for at least a month.

Many US-friendly sites cover the costs for at least one check withdrawal per month – not BetOnline, though. They charge a $25 fee per standard check or $50 if you want the check to be deliver within seven business days.

BetOnline’s sports betting markets are geared towards its U.S. customers – you’ll find plenty of NFL, NBA, MLB and other popular American sports leagues in their selection. As a mixed martial arts fan, I’ve often been disappointed in their MMA betting options, which usually cover one or two fights per event; you’ll find lots of betting options for sports like football and basketball, though.

The range of betting options and propositions will satisfy the majority of sports bettors. Additionally, their live betting options are sufficient, and even though they may not have the most attractive betting interface, it gets the job done.

BetOnline posts betting lines faster than many of its competitors (for example, Bovada, the biggest US gambling site, is much slower) and those who take betting at least a little seriously appreciate this.

Regarding betting limits, this sportsbook ranks among the middle-tier within the US. With a minimum betting limit of $1 and maximum betting limits up to $25,000 (NFL Thursday-to-Sunday spreads), they’re able to facilitate bettors ranging from smaller bankrolls to high rollers. NBA limits go up to $10,000 (sides) and $5,000 (moneylines and totals), NHL bets max. at $3,000. Smaller markets may have caps of just a few hundred dollars.

The sportsbook has gained (and maintained) popularity in America not only due to being reliable but because it appeals to its target market with seasonal promotions and local betting lines. The main reason we rank BetOnline in our top-3 of American-friendly gambling sites is its sportsbook.

Sportsbook Bonus

New customers get a 50% deposit bonus up to $2,500. The bonus has a 10-time rollover requirement and you need to use the bonus code NFL16 (the bonus applies to all sports even though it’s branded as a bonus for the football season). The bonus is good when compared to the competition and one more reason join this sportsbook.

Sportbook Bonus

On top of the deposit bonus, you can also get bonuses for live betting and mobile betting ($25 and $50 respectively). These function different from deposit bonuses, though, since you’ll get the bonus money only in case you lose (so basically they’ll reimburse your bet in case you lose).

BetOnline Casino has been online since 2009 and is powered by Rival Gaming software and offers the following quantities of different types of casino games:

  • Nine variations of blackjack plus 13 different table games.
  • 19 regular slots in addition to 37 3D slots.
  • 17 variations of video poker.
  • Live dealers for blackjack, roulette and baccarat.

Rival Gaming is one of the most frequently used casino software in the U.S. market in addition to Realtime Gaming software. Unfortunately, the best casino software can only be played at non-US casinos (made by the likes of NetEntertainment, Cryptologic and Microgaming), so U.S. gamblers have to do with what’s available.

Casino Bonus

Casino customers are eligible for two bonuses at the moment they sign-up:

  1. A $25 live dealer bonus (get $25 of free play at live dealer tables).
  2. A 100% slots bonus (deposit between $100 and $5,000, get a 100% match bonus with a 50-time rollover requirement).

In addition, casino customers are eligible for a monthly high roller bonus, a 25% reload bonus on any deposit of $25 or more, and a 10% rebate program on casino play. I consider this a sufficient amount of bonus promotions, and the $25 bonus for live dealer games is a nice one, but I wish the slots bonus had a lower rollover requirement, considering the high house edge in slots.

Compared to other U.S. poker sites, BetOnline Poker is a good option in many ways. It has decent player traffic, the general skill level is on the weaker side (typical for all-in-one gambling sites where plenty of gamblers make their way from casino and betting games to poker tables) and the site is among the fastest US-facing operations at processing money withdrawals. ranks BetOnline as one of the top US poker sites, and we agree.

I dislike the quality of the software – especially the graphics. My minimum requirement for poker software is to work without glitches and to be somewhat user-friendly – BetOnline fulfills that criteria but the graphics are still a turn-off. I wish they’d put a little bit of effort into fixing the most obvious mistakes, but then again, plenty of people seem to get along with the software just fine.

Poker Bonus

New depositors get a 100% up to $200 bonus (no bonus codes). This bonus is released in five stages and its average effective rakeback is around 20% (looking at effective rakeback is a useful way to compare bonuses between sites and see how easily they can be cleared).

Compared to other US online rooms, the bonus offer is average when it comes to difficulty (Bovada and Americas Cardroom have the same). In fact, the only US room with a distinctly easier bonus is Full Flush Poker at about 60% effective rakeback, although BetOnline gives you 120 days to clear the bonus while Full Flush only gives you 30 days. (As a side note, Full Flush also has slower withdrawal processing.)

Considering its rake structure, BetOnline Poker is an excellent option for micro-stakes ($5NL-$25NL) players due to its reasonable rake percentage and low maximum rake per pot. The higher the stakes, though, the worse BetOnline gets relative to other US sites; it maintains fairly low maximum rake deduction but its rake percentage is higher than others at every stake excluding the micros.

Customer Service

The customer service at BetOnline has a lot to learn from sites like Bovada. At Bovada, for example, you’ll get fast and professional replies to your questions; at BetOnline, the customer service is often rude and arrogant. It does a decent job most of the time – otherwise, they’d be less successful – but they’re far from providing an excellent experience for the customer.

They have improved since their worst days, but there’s still work to do.

The company offers live chat support, phone support and four different departments for e-mail support (general, poker, casino and skill games). Additionally, real-money customers (those who have already made a deposit) have access to live chat support. Response times are on the slower side at both e-mail and live chat supports; we have no experience from dealing with their phone support.

I hate to break it to you guys, but Betonline is legit. All of the complaints here seem to be centered around (1) Poker is rigged, (2) they ask for too much to verify for a payout, and (3) they refuse to pay me! Ok, so I don't play poker. Never have. Can't speak to that experience at all. But back in 2014 I won a big ticket for $20K+. And guess what? I was actually able to cash out all of it in different forms, including money order, check, MoneyGram, and even bank wire at times. Even before then, I never had a bad experience with Betonline. When I requested a payout and followed all the rules, I got paid. They ask for all the verification to make sure you aren't scamming them. Luckily, all my CC addresses matched up with my living and utility address, so it was never a problem for me. Yes, I had to scan and send them my ID and credit cards, but who cares. I've got a Life Lock subscription along with credit protection for every CC I own just in case they weren't legit. Turns out they were. If you want your payout: - Verify with the documents they ask for. You can even use Adobe to redact the picture or important numbers on your ID or CC. They just need the last 4 of your CCs and the address on your ID. - Understand all the rules. It is in your best interest to NEVER EVER USE PROMO CODES OR ACCEPT THE BONUS. It's so convoluted to get through the rollover that you'll just be thankful to lose all your money and zero out so the bonus rollover can be canceled. - Even after following those rules, the rest of the rules matter too. You can bet both sides of a game EVER, because they will use that as a means to nullify your winnings and not pay out. So if there's a particular game where the line is Team A -10 / Team B +10, you can bet Team A on the ML, and also later bet Team B +10 because both of those outcomes are possible. Team A can win the game by 4 points and both bets be satisfied. But if you bet the ML in both directions, you're screwed. Because you're saying that both teams can win the game, and that's not possible. No playing both sides. Hope that helps. I hate it for those of you who really lost your money if you followed all of their rules. Fortunately that hasn't happened to me, but I'd be pissed. Otherwise, make sure you read and understand ALL the rules so that your money isn't hanging around in limbo.

I placed a wager in the financials. I have been playing with BetOnline for years. The wager I placed was for usd/jpy. I got it at 114.044 and had it at put. I watched it close at 114.042. They took my money even though I won. I looked at the graph and even took a photo of it. The graph showed 114.041. After several calls they told me it closed at 114.048 and I lost. I asked them to prove it and they couldn’t. They refunded my wager but the point is that I won. Right is right and wrong is wrong. They can’t prove it and I can. I keep calling them and they keep saying, “we have escalated your claim to the relevant department.” Crooked thieves! And wasn’t even a lot of money. They have lost my business.

BetOnLine.AG is a dishonest piece of crap. They take credit card deposits and charge you a fee to accept your money THEN THEY CHARGE YOU $40 TO WITHDRAW YOUR MONEY. The bonuses they offer come with a tidy can't withdraw them for 30 days AND you have to rebet the amount of the bonuses AND WIN 6 times. That's like getting no bonus at all. You probably won't win six times in a row and then when you lost once it's bye bye bonus. Antigua is a terrible island anyway. I'll never go there. I'll probably never recover the money I put on deposit. They are just crooks. I'm sure done with them and I will dispute the charges on my credit card bill when it comes. I plan to fight them tooth and nail. I don't like to be screwed unless it's by my wife.

I wish I had read the reviews before I sent them my money. They lie. You don't get the bonus money they promise and if you do you have to agree to delay getting your money until you bet an enormous amount. See Douglas above. They are a rip off.

I am being told that the originally promised, 5 day transfer of funds is now going to be three weeks. I doubt that it will even be done that quickly. This place is staffed poorly and lies about payouts. I'm only looking for them to send a few hundred dollars. How can they consistently get away with this?
Bill Car commented: 25 Aug 2017
I play mainly Poker with BETONLINE and I think they are trust worthy, good support, and reliable. The only thing missing is players. It could a lot more poker players. Sports betting is fine although the odds of course are not as good as a Nevada casino. Here is a tip: use Bitcoin for deposit and withdrawal. Very nice.

i spoke to some one one the sports side and they said if u depsote 50 and u get the 12.50 bonus u have to 6x that and they hold it for 30 days if u dont use the bonus u have to double the 50 so u would need around 100 plush in poker when u win in free rolls u have to make a depstt and roll it over x1 then u can wd your frr winnings ..............

I concur that this site is questionable. I fared well for the first couple of weeks, but I have now lost consistently at Poker the last week. My pocket Aces have not won on in at least 3 hands, while I could be playing poorly this is unlikely immediately following my trip queens lost to a bad beat and my AK lost to some garbage hand. I would not say with certainty, just pay attention to any of these situations piling up.
Jim Bridger commented: 30 May 2017
I'll echo D in that this site is rigged - especially the blackjack. When the dealers wait an ungodly amount of time prior to pulling cards from the automatic shoe to hit 21 when showing a 4,5, or 6 - makes you stop and wonder wtf? If it happens once or twice - ok, but to go 12 hands without busting, 9 of which are 3,4,5,6 showing and consistently pulling 20 or 21- wtf? You'll also notice that 8 out of 10 times, once the cut card has been reached, the dealer will almost ALWAYS draw to a 21. I'm not saying it is the dealers, although they do seem to know when to wait prior to pulling cards, but I am saying something fishy goes on with the automatic shoes (rigged). Anyone one care to look at the dealer bust rate and tell me whether or not it is normal in that it excessively exceeds the predicted rates. The rigged site is a joke.
Sean commented: 24 May 2017
This site is fishy to say the least. I've had down swings of up to 9 months. But never have I had it hit me cash tourney Omaha holdem and even casino. I have had exactly one winning cash session. And I've been big favorites everytime I push. While I watch idiots cruise through tourneys playing 7 3 off. The favorite is not winning at a rate that's even comparable to other sites it's almost half what it should be. Oh well these crooks won't get another dime I'll send my money to ignition only Ferrell's at the joke of a site. Sorry to review giver but this is not a solid site and numbers are no where near what they should be. Play here if you like bingo but even playing solid wont help

They refused to pay me out after winning a sports bet. I requested the payout on Friday which is the day they tell you that you can request a free payout. The first thing they told me was that my profile address did not match with the delivery address for the check which was a lie. I emailed them my utility bill. Then they told me I was going to have to wait another week and start the process again. I followed all of their terms when requesting a pay out and they refused to send me my check. These people are flat out scammers when it comes to paying out and try to run a game on you.

I was up over $11K on NCAA tourney picks, blackjack, and Caribbean Poker over the course of a 2 week period. I've been battling with them every week for the past 3 weeks to get my money (after waiting the requisite period and numerous requests for assistance). I've called every Friday for 3 weeks and told to give 7 days for resolution. I talked with a representative named "Kaykay" today who could neither confirm my payout was sent and in fact called me a liar since he can't see my payout requests, phone conversations, and would not verify the numerous examples of names used for their credit charges. Now I have no access to my account and am dealing with numerous unauthorized from China, London, and Panama on my credit card. FRAUD!!! DO NOT USE!!!!

This site is a joke! It was fun at first but I won $2500 on their slots over a three day period. I had to wait to cash out but before the time I could cash out (7 days after winning) I received a email saying my winnings were a error and have been removed from my account! YES! You read that correctly, the winnings were due to a error! I revived a $75 inconvenient bonus, and i'm out $2500!!!

I have been trying to cash out $4,500 since the end of January and have now tried doing a money order. It has been outside the advertising timeframe that was given to me of 7 days. I have dealt with the absolute worst customer service imaginable. For the past week I have requested a tracking number for the money order and they cannot provide it to me and say there has been a problem with the money order. They told me it has been sent but cannot give me any answers on when I will get it or where the tracking number is. Has anyone had problems like this? What can I do to fix this problem because it has been a horror story! It is easy to deposit money and they are nice to you on the phone with your trying to deposit money on BetOnline, but it is totally opposite when trying to withdraw your winnings. I would not recommend BetOnline based on the problem I am currently having!!

I joined a year ago and was having a good time as it seemed more realistic than other sites. Now, that my account became empty by means of racketeering, The odds seemed against me on every good favorable hand. If you plan on winning with a flush, you better have the ace! If you have a straight, you lose! Hell, even 3 aces, you lose! I think half the players are bots! No more investing here! just freerolls!

First, I want to say that I'm not a big gambler and have never deposited money in BetOnline. With that said, something is bad wrong with this site. I write code for a major US company and have written data mining programs to track results on numerous sites. Stars, Tilt & Bodog all had about the same percentage of winning hands with multiple show at showdown with the winning hand being around 42% preflop. BetOnline winning hand following the same criteria is 26%. Something is wrong with this. I have pages of data as I mined data from each site over multiple 30 day periods and most of the data follows what the algorithms predict with live cards EXCEPT BetOnline. The numbers don't come close to what they're suppose to with live cards or any other online poker site I've monitored. Just saying, I'd play somewhere else.

I thought the site was okay when I started using it until I wanted to cash in on some money that I had won. They canceled my request sighting they wanted a copy of my ID, a copy of the credit card I used for a deposit(they had no problem taking the payment without validating anything), and a utility or bank statement the last 3 months. All seems sketchy and I would never use them again. They clearly aren't trying to give you your winnings so if you are looking to try to win any money even if you do expect them to do everything they can to deter you from getting that money.

I've been playing Black Jack on this site for awhile now and never had any problems until recently. Was playing on the Live Casino the other night and they shut down the tables for some reason, so I went ahead and moved my money back to the Betonline balance and it all disappeared... All I get from Customer service is automated emails telling me to wait another 12 to 24 hours. After a few days I finally got someone who confirmed my money was missing and said they see the transfers but to wait another 12 to 24 hours.. Well 5 days later still no money and they just keep sending the automated emails. now I've found this video on Reddit showing someone playing one of the Live Casino BJ tables and the dealer CLEARLY cheats right on the video... You can clearly see him pull not the top card but the one under it.... Like wtf..

NO WAY is this site "legitimate". NO way. Aside from the absolutely crazy statistics I played out over 6000 hands let's ONLY look at their support. I'm in the money in a $7,500 guaranteed tourney (prize pool was over 11k). Site goes down completely with about only 44 players left. This was a rebuy tourney. Did support give a refund with explanation?? Umm, NO. NOTHING. When I contacted support the guy actually said "Jesus, give us a break, it's only been 24 hours". Huh?? NOBODY I chatted with EVER got a refund. NOTHING. Not only did I not get the prize money I was in, I didn't even get refunded for my buy-ins or add-on. Between their SHADY support and incredibly shady hands that play out ... STAY AWAY. FAR AWAY from this site. A serious waste.

I've made wagers/played poker on various sites and payouts are similar. As far as Betonline they have the WORST payout rules! I understand keeping what you've deposited in the account until rollover is satisfied but keep ALL your money in there until you reach the rollover point is unrealistic from a bettor standpoint! This is a scam in my opinion!!! They have a "legit" site for you to deposit money that will ultimately have you lose ALL your profit in the end just to hopefully make a payout and that's if you have any money left!!! So if you want to throw away your hard earned money by all means join Betonline. way better option if you ever want to see your money! STAY AWAY FROM BETONLINE!

It's laughable....not to the point of losing money hand after hand. A K 10 on the board bet $100 player goes all in with 6 3 spades??? I'm holding A K..... they turn an river spades for a flush....?? over and over...getting made hands cracked deep in way...not week after week... I've been playing daily for 2 months watching my balance drop day after day....started playing only certain hands just to watch them get cracked time after time.... Pretty jacked up site....but what can yah do. Ummm Stop dumping money into the site.... Wanted to play some online poker because didn't want to drive to the casinos...Wrong move...after I lose the last of this $$ I'll just drive to the casino and play. I recommend dumping $200 on this site just so you can see how utterly re-tah-ded it is....mind numbingly stupid......

They have horrible customer service and will not pay you bonuses. They have hidden stuff in there bonuses that will prevent you from them. Bovada is much more customer friendley and will pay bonuses. Do Not use betonline
