The 2023 Wimbledon winner odds heavily favor Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles, but there’s no clear top contender for the women’s event. Is that truly the case?

I explore the lines and the most likely winners for both tournaments before offering my Wimbledon 2023 predictions and betting picks.

Djokovic is the clear front-runner according to the latest Wimbledon men’s winner odds. He just won the French Open and set the record for the most Grand Slam titles by an individual player. Next up is Carlos Alcaraz, who also just lost to Djokovic at Roland-Garros.

Wimbledon 2023 Men’s Top Contenders

I first want to focus on the main favorites in the men’s tournament. Djokovic is the player with the best odds to win Wimbledon, which could be his 24th Grand Slam title. Beating him won’t be an easy task for any of his opponents, especially on grass.

The best tennis betting sites see him as the undisputed favorite, so the Wimbledon betting odds for him are low. That’s probably the only sustainable argument against backing the Serbian legend, but is it enough?

Novak Djokovic

Djokovic has already won two Grand Slam titles in 2023. If he wins at Wimbledon, he could be on pace for a Calendar Slam. The Serbian is among the few men’s players who’ve gotten close to achieving such an incredible accomplishment.

After he collected the Australian Open title back in January, Djokovic also went on to win at Roland-Garros. During the French Open, Novak clearly showed he’s still the undisputed best player in the world after defeating young guns Alcaraz in the semi-finals and Casper Ruud in the final!

Djokovic enters Wimbledon this year as the four-time reigning champion. The man simply doesn’t lose when competing in this tournament. Betting against him won’t be an easy decision, especially since Djokovic thrives on grass courts.

Carlos Alcaraz

Age: 20
Country: Spain
ATP Ranking: 2nd

It was a disappointing finish for Alcaraz at the French Open. He lost to Djokovic during the semi-finals in four sets. He also fell out of the top spot in the ATP rankings, which should motivate him to bring his A-game to the third Grand Slam of the year.

Despite having limited experience on grass, Alcaraz is still a strong contender. He’s already proven that he can be competitive on every type of surface. Alcaraz has also won four singles titles in 2023, and I expect him to add to that total.

During the semi-finals at Roland-Garros, Alcaraz suffered from cramps. The pressure got to him that day – he was playing against a 22-time Grand Slam champion in the French Open. I expect Alcaraz to challenge Djokovic at Wimbledon, but he’s got to keep his nerves under control.

I also don’t trust him on grass that much, so I don’t think the young Spaniard can lift the title.

Daniil Medvedev

Age: 27
Country: Russia
ATP Ranking: 3rd

Daniil Medvedev is also a serious contender to win Wimbledon in 2023. He’s been outstanding for most of the year, having won five singles titles. This includes the ATP Masters tournaments in Rome and Miami!

NOTE:

A quick glance at his past performances also tells you that Medvedev thrives in Grand Slam events. Not only has the Russian player won the US Open, but he’s also competed twice in the Australian Open final. The guy usually brings his best stuff while playing in major tournaments.

Unfortunately, Wimbledon has been a different story for Medvedev. His best finish was the fourth round while competing in 2021. On paper, the Russian has the skillset to be a good grass player, but he struggles on that surface, and it’s hard to expect a major change this year.

2023 Wimbledon Women’s Main Favorites

I want to turn my attention to the top female contenders before I dive into my Wimbledon 2023 predictions. Swiatek and Sabalenka are the co-favorites to win the tournament.

Elena Rybakina is also a contender that you must take seriously. She’s the reigning champion at Wimbledon and the No. 3 overall women’s player in the world.

Iga Swiatek

Age: 22
Country: Poland
WTA Rankings: 1st

Since Ashleigh Barty retired in 2022, Swiatek has taken over as the top women’s player. She’s also gotten a lot better over the past year, and her momentum is at an all-time high. If the Polish star stays on her current trajectory, she will be one of the best ever when her career is over.

Swiatek doesn’t have a ton of experience on grass, but she’s played well at Wimbledon in the past. Her best finish was reaching the fourth round in 2021, so she’s got what it takes to go on a deep run in the tournament.

Is Swiatek a greater threat to win Wimbledon than Sabalenka and Rybakina? Her chances are pretty darn good. If Swiatek can make the necessary adjustments while competing on grass, I think she’ll add a fifth Grand Slam title to her résumé.

Aryna Sabalenka

Age: 25
Country: Belarus
WTA Rankings: 2nd

Sabalenka became a Grand Slam champion by winning the Australian Open back in January. She also shot up the WTA rankings and made the French Open semi-finals in June. Now, she’ll make her return to Wimbledon, having made the semi-finals in 2021.

In terms of her natural abilities, Sabalenka is extremely well-rounded. She’s an excellent baseliner and has incredibly powerful groundstrokes. Sabalenka also often excels on grass courts, which gives her an advantage at Wimbledon.

With three singles titles in 2023, Sabalenka is the real deal. She’s going to be a tough opponent for anyone who faces her at Wimbledon.

Elena Rybakina

Age: 24
Country: Kazakhstan
WTA Rankings: 3rd

IMPORTANT:

Since her breakthrough victory at Wimbledon last year, Rybakina’s career has been trending upward. In the past six months, she’s appeared in the Australian Open final and won two WTA 1000 titles. Rybakina also has multiple victories over Swiatek in 2023.

Unfortunately, Rybakina would have to withdraw from the French Open during the third round. She suffered from a respiratory illness and didn’t feel physically capable of competing. There was a good chance that she could’ve captured another Grand Slam had she been healthy.

Rybakina will be back and ready to go for Wimbledon. Her aggressive style fits grass courts, and she will have plenty of confidence after winning last year.

2023 Wimbledon Predictions and Best Bets

On the men’s side, this one is a no-brainer. I’m picking Djokovic to win with my 2023 Wimbledon prediction. This guy is on fire right now, and I think it’s foolish to bet against him. Djokovic is the most driven tennis player on earth and will assert his dominance once again.

The women’s tournament is a little trickier. I think Sabalenka has the edge over Swiatek at Wimbledon because she’s better on grass courts. The odds are solid, too, so I’m sticking with the defending champion to reclaim her title.
