Betting Preview of Isle of Man TT 2023
The Isle of Man TT is one of the most prestigious annual motorcycle racing events (and definitely the craziest one!). In 2023, many of the world’s top competitors will once again try to claim all the glory. This includes previous winner Dean Harrison, who will likely be an Isle of Man TT betting favorite.
Are you preparing to bet on this year’s Isle of Man competition? Well, you’ve come to the right place. This article contains all the information you need to know about the race. I explain the format and analyze the top contenders before I provide you with my Isle of Man TT 2023 predictions.
Isle of Man TT 2023 Schedule and Key Info
The TT Senior race for the 2023 Isle of Man will take place on June 10. The event features several world-class racers, some of which are previous winners of the event. The entire course is 37.73 miles in length, and the competitors must complete six laps.
There are four different signals to alert everyone that the race is about to start. Competitors will set off individually at 10-second intervals. This is known as a “clutch start, ” allowing racers to get going and limiting contact between them.
Parts of the Isle of Man racecourse are difficult to navigate. Certain areas of the asphalt are rough and uneven, which requires more precision from every racer. Competitors also have to account for things like curbs, stone walls, lamp posts, trees, and buildings.
You should also know that the Isle of Man TT features several other solo classes besides the senior race. This includes the Superstock TT, Superbike TT, and Supersport TT. The best online betting sites usually cover the races and provide competitive odds.
2023 Isle of Man TT Top Contestants
Now, I want to focus on the main contenders before I offer you predictions for the Isle of Man TT. Dean Harrison, John McGuinness, and Michael Dunlop are among the most notable competitors. All three of them combine for 11 victories in the Isle of Man TT.
Unfortunately, the Isle of Man TT betting odds haven’t been published. However, I already know the top contenders based on previous results and recent form. I expect Harrison, McGuinness, and Dunlop to be up there in 2023.
Dean Harrison
- Wins: 3
- Age: 34
- Bike: Yamaha R6
- Sponsor: DAO Racing
Having recently won the Isle of Man TT in 2019, Dean Harrison is a pretty fierce competitor. It seems like he’s always contending for podium finishes and victories in almost all solo classes. Harrison, who represents Kawasaki, is becoming a household name in road racing.
Harrison is also in excellent form entering the Isle of Man TT race. He performed well at the North West 200 in early May. He finished three times on the podium and said he felt “most comfortable” on the superbike.
Harrison never endures any major, lingering problems. He’s also off to a great start in 2023, and I expect him to continue producing quality results. He’s more than ready to compete in the Isle of Man TT.
John McGuinness
- Wins: 23
- Age: 51
- Bike: Fireblade SP
- Sponsor: Honda Racing UK
John McGuinness is has a prolific racing record. He’s won the Isle of Man TT on seven different occasions! McGuinness is also closing in on Joey Dunlop for the most TT victories in road racing history (26).
Unfortunately, McGuinness hasn’t captured this event since 2015. Furthermore, he suffered a devastating accident in 2017, which required an extensive recovery period. McGuinness made his return a year later and went on to win the 2018 Classic TT race in August.
Is McGuinness in the best position to win the Isle of Man TT in 2023? The truth is that he’s not quite as competitive as he used to be. In fact, retirement rumors were circulating about him before Honda included McGuinness in its 2023 road-racing lineup.
Michael Dunlop
- Wins: 21
- Age: 34
- Bike: S1000RR
- Sponsor: Hawk Racing
My 2023 Isle of Man TT betting preview wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t talk about Michael Dunlop. He’s the son of former motorcycle racer Robert Dunlop and nephew of former World Champion Joey Dunlop. Speed racing is in his blood.
Dunlop has already won many TT races because he’s not afraid to get aggressive. He’s one of my favorite racers to watch because there’s never a dull moment when he’s competing. Dunlop has also gotten into several confrontations with other racers over his combative approach.
Dunlop is no stranger to winning the Isle of Man Senior TT. He’s finished first on three separate occasions in this race. His most recent victory was in 2017, and now he’s probably eager to land on top of that podium again.
The Rest of the Field
You should also consider targeting a few other racers when you bet on the Isle of Man TT 2023. A name that stands out to me is Peter Hickman. He’s the defending Isle of Man Senior TT champion who’s also won nine TT races in his career.
Michael Rutter is another intriguing name. He’s a world-renowned British Superbike Championship racer, and his TT career includes seven victories. Rutter will also debut the Yamaha R7 at this year’s Isle of Man TT, which has one of the best twin-cylinder engines on the planet.
2023 Isle of Man TT Predictions
Ultimately, I think Dean Harrison is the best option for the outright winner. I’m choosing him with my 2023 Isle of Man TT prediction because he’s been so consistent. Harrison also narrowly lost to Hickman last year, so he’s got the motivation to perform well in 2023.
I also thought about picking Dunlop, but I like Harrison slightly better. McGuinness is nearing the end of his career and hasn’t won the Isle of Man TT in a while. I also doubt that Hickman will win in back-to-back years.
