The 2023 Asia Cup betting odds are officially, so you can bet on a potential winner. This year, everyone expects a showdown between India and Pakistan, which is hardly a surprise. I share my thoughts on all teams in this article.

Can India reclaim its title and lift the Asia Cup for the eighth time in history? Can Sri Lanka win the tournament for the first time since 2012? Check out my analysis and 2023 Asia Cup predictions.

Asia Cup Odds for 2023

  • India; -100
  • Pakistan; +225
  • Sri Lanka; +650
  • Bangladesh; +900
  • Afghanistan; +1600
  • Nepal; +15000

India is a strong favorite in the Asia Cup odds for the outright winner. The nation has captured the most championships of any country in this tournament. Next up in the betting odds is Pakistan, the runner-up from 2022.

Sri Lanka is the defending champion, but winning consecutive titles won’t be easy. Cricket is often unpredictable, and the competition is extremely intense. The champs will have to bring their best effort to contend once again for the Asia Cup.

The betting odds in this article were published by the sportsbook at Bovada. They cover every major cricket competition, including the Asia Cup, the Ashes Series, and the Indian Premier League.

India – The Main Favorite

  • Head Coach: Rahul Dravid
  • Captain: Rohit Sharma
  • Asia Cup Titles: 7

India underachieved in last year’s Asia Cup. They finished third, failing to reach the final match for the first time since 2014. Now, the Indian squad has a ton of motivation to regain its champion form.

NOTE:

India has an incredible track record at the Asia Cup. With seven total titles, no other country has been more successful than India in the tournament’s history. India also has 10 appearances in the final at the Asia Cup, which is just as impressive.

India is also in peak form heading into the 2023 Asia Cup. They’ve won matches over Ireland, the West Indies, and Australia in 2023. The country also holds the third overall spot in the latest ODI world rankings.

India will be a tough team to beat. The lineup includes several great players who excel at bowling. The best batters on earth – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma – also play for India. They will be almost unstoppable, especially playing with a chip on their shoulder after 2022’s failure.

Pakistan – The Contender

  • Head Coach: Grant Bradburn
  • Captain: Babar Azam
  • Asia Cup Titles: 2

Similar to India, Pakistan is also incredibly well-rounded. The lineup features several talented bowlers and batsmen. The key player for Pakistan, of course, will be Babar Azam. He’s averaged over 50 runs per match for his entire international career.

Pakistan will also lean on bowler Shaheen Afridi for support. He’s among the best players in modern cricket at his position. Afridi is only 23 years old, but he already has nearly 200 maidens in his international career.

After a runner-up performance in 2022, the Pakistani squad now has to prove its resilience. The championship is within reach, but lifting the coveted trophy has been elusive. Pakistan hasn’t won the Asia Cup since 2012.

Ultimately, both Azam and Afridi have to be efficient during the tournament. I think Pakistan is good enough to claim the Asia Cup, but that’s only if their best players are in peak form. It’ll take a monumental effort to win this thing, but it’s possible.

Sri Lanka – The Dark Horse

  • Head Coach: Chris Silverwood
  • Captain: Dasun Shanaka
  • Asia Cup Titles: 6

It’s a little strange to think of Sri Lanka as an underdog in the 2023 Asia Cup. After all, they’re the reigning champions in this tournament. However, the odds indicate that Pakistan and India are in a better position to win the Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka’s lineup features several dominant players, but the team’s identity is in question. With two recent losses against Pakistan, I have concerns about Sri Lanka’s form. In the ODI world rankings, Sri Lanka also fell to ninth overall.

I still think there’s hope for Sri Lanka in 2023. In last year’s final, they defeated Pakistan by 23 runs. Many players from that team also remain on the roster. This includes Kusal Mendis, one of the best players in last year’s tournament.

Sri Lanka has also won six Asia Cup titles. This country knows what it takes to win one of the biggest cricket tournaments on earth. I expect Sri Lanka to be competitive, especially if they can fix their form before things get going.

The Rest of the Bunch

Now, I want to analyze the other teams before I offer you my final Asia Cup predictions. No other country has won the Asia Cup aside from India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. In fact, Bangladesh is the only other country to finish runner-up.

Last year’s tournament ended in disappointment for Bangladesh. The country exited during the group stage, which wasn’t the result they wanted. The good news is that the squad features Shakib Al Hasan, one of the best all-rounders. That’s not enough to win the title, though.

Afghanistan is worth targeting if you want to bet on a sleeper. They delivered one of the most underrated performances in last year’s tournament. Afghanistan defeated both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka during the group stage.

Nepal will also try to contend for the title. They’re a massive long shot to lift the trophy, but crazier things have happened. Nepal will also compete in its first Asia Cup, having qualified by winning the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup.

2023 Asia Cup Prediction and Betting Pick

I think India is the best team in the tournament by a wide margin. This team is consistently good and stacked with talented players. Several of the top ODI batsmen are also representing India in the 2023 Asia Cup.

Given India’s track record at the Asia Cup, you can’t overlook the country’s history of success. Furthermore, coming up short in 2022 will only fuel them to bounce back and perform well. The combination of power-hitter and efficient bowling will earn them the Asia Cup title.
