Who is Red Stag Casino?

Open since 2015, the Red Stag casino brand is relatively new on the scene. That can often be a red flag, but in this case, it is nice to see that the brand is, in fact, part of a family of casinos owned and operated by the Deckmedia Group, also responsible for casinos such as Slots Capital, Spartan Slots, and Uptown Aces casinos among others. The fact that this group has been in operation for a significant period of time gives me a good feeling that they must be doing something right to stay in business.

Red Stag Casino is licensed in Curacao, which as I have explained before, is an operator-friendly jurisdiction. At best, the Curacao licensing allows for some sort of financial records to be kept about the firm, and at worst, it isn’t worth the paper it is printed on. This all stems from Curacao not caring about what players are allowed to play at one of their licensed brands; as long as they get their annual fees, they seem to stay at arm’s length. Be that as it may, it still says something that a casino goes through the process of acquiring a license from anywhere rather than only opening their doors without one.

Who Can Play At Red Stag Casino?

Red Stag Casino is a U.S. friendly casino, with their site seemingly available to the entire country aside from the following states:

  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Maryland
  • Missouri
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Washington

Aside from these states, it appears that the only other major country that is restricted from playing on Red Stag Casino is Canada. This reviewer is located in Canada, and I can confirm that while I can register an account and play for play money, it will not allow me to select Canada as an option when trying to set up an account for real money.

Here is a list of the restricted countries at Red Stag Casino:

  • Canada
  • Greece
  • Poland
  • Brazil
  • Romania
  • Bulgaria
  • Moldova
  • Israel
  • Russia
  • Ukraine

Overall, the fact that this casino is mostly open to most major non-scamming in the world is refreshing.  The ability to pull in more players gives Red Stag more capital to work with when it comes to promotions and other features of the offering.

What Type Of Casino is Red Stag?

Red Stag Casino uses the WGS technology suite of casino products. WGS is the name of the company resurrected from the ashes of the old Odds On Gaming platform that once was used by major online casino players such as English Harbour. The company’s development office is partially in Toronto, which is probably why Canadians are restricted from playing the games at Red Stag for real money.

While the WGS Technology games are still being updated from their old style, Red Stag does offer their casino in the three primary forms of play. You can download a graphics-rich casino client right from their website and play the games on your PC, and here is where you will find the richest graphics and the fastest games as no graphics need to come via the internet each time a slot is pulled, or a card is drawn.

Red Stag also has a browser-based Instant Play option, giving you access to all their games but without having to download the client onto your local machine. This is an excellent choice for someone who perhaps uses a laptop for work purposes and doesn’t want to leave a gambling trail on it, or for someone who likes to play but doesn’t take their laptop everywhere with them. The Instant Play games we tried were very speedy with little lag at all, and you do have access to the entire suite of games in both download and Instant Play modes.

Mobile gaming is big business these days, and the folks at WGS understand that rapidly modifying their games to be mobile friendly. To date, they have done a good job converting many of their slots and table games titles to be able to be played on mobile browsers, but the job is not yet complete. You may find yourself wondering why your favorite game is now gone from the Red Stag Casino lobby when you access it from your phone; don’t worry, it’s probably because that game has yet to be optimized for mobile play. I hope that WGS continues to convert all their titles so their operators can have a seamless transition between the different casino delivery methods.

Game Selection

WGS was once running some of the biggest names in the online casino world on their platform, and while that may have been a few years ago now, there is still a wide selection of games available to play at Red Stag Casino. Here’s a quick look at what they have to offer.

Table Games

If you have read any of my reviews before, you will know that I am quite partial to a couple of table games, specifically Blackjack and Pai Gow. Red Stag Casino scratches my Blackjack itch by offering several variations of the game, including Single Deck, which is one of my favorites. They also have one progressive blackjack game which contains a jackpot piece.

The casino also features every other major table game you will find in a reputable casino, so there is something for everyone at Red Stag. Here’s a list of the table games you will see in their lobby:

  • 10 High Hold’em
  • Baccarat
  • Casino Hold’em
  • Craps
  • Mulligan Poker
  • Pai Gow Poker
  • Red Dog
  • Blackjack
  • Perfect Pairs
  • Progressive Blackjack
  • US Blackjack
  • American Roulette
  • European Roulette

Video Poker

Back in the day, English Harbour Casino was known as one of the best stops online for video poker players. IN the early days of Multi-hand jackpot video poker, WGS software had the best array of game options and the best looking games on the market.

These days, while the graphics aren’t as flashy as some of the new providers on the scene, the folks at Red Stag Casino will definitely have your heart pumping with their mega-multi hand video poker games, where you can play up to 100 hands at one time looking for the big jackpot! Here are the different kinds of video poker available to you:

  • Aces and Faces
  • Deuces and Joker
  • Deuces Wild
  • Double Joker
  • Jacks or Better
  • Joker Poker
  • Tens or Better
  • Aces and Faces Multi-Hand
  • Deuces and Joker Multi-Hand
  • Deuces Wild Multi-Hand
  • Double Joker Multi-Hand
  • Jacks or Better Multi-Hand
  • Joker Poker Multi-Hand
  • Tens or Better Multi-Hand
  • Deuces Wild Mega Multi-Hand
  • Jacks or Better Mega Multi-Hand
  • Joker Poker Mega Multi-Hand

Any casino worth its salt knows that to keep you interested as a slots player, you need the following:

  • Excellent Graphics
  • Intriguing Bonus Games
  • Full assortment of content
  • High Return To Player %

Red Stag Casino checks off all of these boxes.  While seasoned online gamblers will undoubtedly recognize some of these titles (and the fact that the graphics for these titles could use a facelift), there is no shortage of different themes of games for players to choose from; here are some of the more popular titles in their catalog:

  • Solomon’s Mines
  • Tiki Lounge
  • Vegas Party
  • Cleopatra’s Pyramid
  • Jurassic Slots
  • Mermaid’s Quest
  • Lucky Irish
  • Turkey Time
  • Lucky 7s
  • Caribbean Gold
  • Arabian Nights

Specialty Games

Not a lot to see here, folks. The “Specialty Games” offered by Red Stag Casino are little more than a Keno game and some slot machines that are card and dice related. This is a pretty disappointing aspect of the Red Stag offering. I would have hoped to find some interesting game variants here as this is where a casino can set itself apart, but in this case, there isn’t a real reason for me to click on their Specialty Games tab. Here are the few games that they do offer:

  • KENO

The Good Stuff and the Bad

  • Promotions
  • Tournaments

  • Bonus Clearing

We are skipping right past the Bad Stuff in this review because truthfully we didn’t find too many things to complain about at Red Stag Casino…except this.  What you will see now is something I consider to be an atrocity to the gaming industry, and I hope that players will start to complain bitterly to the casino to change their current policies:

Green Thumbs UpWe like a casino with a lot of promotions, and right out of the gate Red Stag Casino gives me plenty of options to choose from for my deposit bonus. We’ll review many of those bonuses later in this review, but I will tell you that the bonus offers at Red Stag rival that of many casinos in the marketplace. From what I have seen, there is a good selection of daily and weekly promotions to go along with the generous Welcome Bonus.

I LOVE a good casino tournament.  I am always scurrying to Las Vegas when I get invited to a casino’s complimentary tournament, no matter what the game is.  And yes, I know that makes me a sucker as I find myself back on their property, but I am fine with that so you should be as well.

Red Stag Casino takes advantage of WGS’s robust tournament software.  The WGS group has always counted on tournament play as a differentiator for their casinos, and it continues today.  The software can manage multiple concurrent tournaments in their lobby (at the time of this review, there were at least 12 different tournaments available) and this style of play attracts a different type of gamble to the casino.

Bonus Clearing

At the outset, I did like seeing that at Red Stag there is a standard 20x wagering requirement on all the deposit bonuses offered at Red Stag. Many casinos will advertise a lower rate, but then with all the different terms and conditions, you end up having to play through anywhere from 40 to 60 times, which can be very frustrating. This becomes even more frustrating with Red Stag when you dig through the Terms and Conditions to find out about clearing your bonus. Here you will find the following table explaining how much your play contributes to bonus clearing:

Wagers on Count
Any Slot Game 100%
Keno 100%
Bingo Bucks, Poker Slots, Dazzling Dice 100%
Baccarat 100%
Any Blackjack Game 10%
Craps 0%
Any Roulette Game 100%
Any Video Poker Game 10%
All other Table Games 35%

This kind of information is a slap in the face to table games players, especially those who play blackjack.  The Casino is basically saying that they don’t care about you enough to let you earn bonuses at a relatively competitive rate.  Also, this information should not be buried deep in the pages of the Terms and Conditions; it feels icky to have to come across this after digging around looking for answers.  Thankfully we did all the dirty work to bring you this information.

Even more bad news for you players from the UK though…the wagering requirements for your bonuses is 40x (I suspect that has something to do with the gaming regulations in the UK which are much more stringent than those in other jurisdictions.)

As we discussed in the Good Stuff Section of this review, Red Stag Casino offers a lot of different types of bonuses to their players. To keep players coming back often, the casino has designed a series of daily promotions that complement their regular deposit bonus structure. Let’s look at some of the casino’s more attractive promotions:

Welcome Bonus

Red Stag Casino gives its players two options for how to earn bonuses on their first 7 deposits at the casino: Bonus dollars with Free Spins or Cashback. This is a nice choice to have given the horrible bonus clearing rules outlined above. Here’s an overview of the two different types of bonuses, starting with the Bonus Dollar and Free Spin option:

Deposit Cashback / Free Spins Game Max Amount
1st Deposit 275% / 100 Spins Dolphin Reef Max $550
2nd Deposit 175% / 100 Spins Fat Cat Max $350
3rd Deposit 100% / 50 Spins Funky Chicken Max $200
4th Deposit 175% / 50 Spins Coll Bananas Max $350
5th Deposit 100% / 25 Spins City of Gold Max $200
6th Deposit 150% / 25 Spins Cerry Blossom Max $300
7th Deposit 275% / 150 Spins King Tiger Max $550

This bonus gives you a maximum of $2,500 over 7 individual deposits, plus 500 Free Spins to try out some of their more popular slots games.  The wagering requirement for this particular promotion is 30x.

The terms of the Cashback option are quite simple.  On each of the first 7 deposits, when a player plays their balance down to zero, within 48 hours they can contact customer service and have a credit of 25% of that deposit put back in their accounts.  I prefer this option as I know exactly what my insurance package is going to be if I lose all of my deposit.

Daily Mobile Bonuses

I want to focus on these bonuses as they are mobile-specific promotions. Mobile gaming is becoming more prevalent as smartphone penetration continues to increase, and casinos need to start promoting directly to those players who prefer to play on their mobile devices.

The mobile-only promotions from Red Stag are changed out monthly, so here is the most recent offer:

Deposit Exclusive Mobile PROMO Coupon Code Frequency
$25+ 50% with super low wagering! LUCKYRUN Once a Day
$25+ 50 Free Spins on Lucky Irish GREENDEVIL Once a Day
$85+ 150% + 50 Spins on Fat Cat FATMOVE Once a Day

I like the fact that I can use these bonuses on small deposits each day as I prefer to make smaller deposits when I use my mobile device as I am likely to have a much shorter session than if I am sitting in front of my computer.

VIP Program

Red Stag Casino features a comprehensive VIP Program, which is clearly broken down into multiple levels with each level opening up a series of larger benefits for its members.  I like the fact that the casino is up front about how many points you need to qualify for each level (even if it does seem like certain levels are unattainable for the average player).

The casino has chosen to use adult beverages for the theme of their VIP levels.  This I find particularly curious as they are presuming that we would understand that whiskey is more valuable than Vodka, and so on.  For whatever it’s worth, I think the names are pretty cheesy, but as long as they provide the rewards that are advertised, I’ll go along with it.  Here is an overview of each level and the rewards associated with it:

Red Stag Beer Club

Red Stag Tequila Club

Red Stag Rum Club

Red Stag Vodka Club

Red Stag Whiskey Club

Red Stag Champagne Club

As Red Stag Casino is a casino licensed in Curacao and accepting wagers from US players, their options for deposits and withdrawals are pretty standard. Every player should, of course, check within their own jurisdiction to see what methods are available to you, but here is what is advertised on the Red Stag Casino website:

  • Deposits: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Skrill, Neteller, Bitcoin, Paysafecard, Sofort
  • Withdrawals: Check, Bank Wire, Skrill, Neteller

They advertise that bank wires and checks will take between 5-10 days to process.  We haven’t come across complaints indicating any slow pay or non-payment, so we are going to take their word for it and will update this review if new information is made available.

Would I Play at Red Stag Casino?

If you can look past the horrible bonus clearing, and just focus on what Red Stag Casino has to offer, then I would recommend playing at this site. I personally chose the cashback option for my deposit bonuses, and while that seems like betting against myself actually winning at the tables, I am no dummy…they don’t open these casinos to lose money, so any extra entertainment value I can get for my money I will gladly take.

I hope that after reading this review, you will feel like jumping into one of Red Stag Casino’s slots tournaments or checking out some of their great video poker action. Good luck!
