From the moment I laid eyes on the homepage of Karamba Casino, I knew I was in for a treat. The bright blue background with a tropical bird as a mascot sent me right back into the memory banks to a time when I used to live in a paradise just that very color…Wait, where was I? Right, back to the casino.

A nice façade is one thing, but does Karamba give me that warm, fuzzy feeling after I reviewed it in detail? Read on to find out all you need to know about this casino.

About Karamba Casino

Karamba Logo in Grey Banner

Karamba has been in existence since 2006, giving it more than a decade of operation. I feel that casinos that manage to stay open for that long without any major incidents deserve to be in a category all their own. The casino is owned by ASG Technologies from the British Virgin Islands and operated by Aspire Global, a white-label platform provider. It doesn’t take a detective to figure out that these two companies are related; they couldn’t even come up with a better name than just the abbreviation of Aspire Global. No matter, as long as the site is secure, I don’t care about the corporate structure.

Giving me some faith in the organization, I see that Karamba holds gaming licenses from the Malta Gaming Authority and the UK Gambling Commission. These two entities do a lot of research into a company before approving them for a license so you can rest assured that your money is safe with this casino.

Who Can Play at Karamba Casino

Having licenses from the UK and Malta has the folks at Karamba covered for European players. Only countries that have their own individual online gambling laws are restricted from playing at the site. Also, players from the U.S. are NOT allowed to play on Karamba (this is pretty standard to comply with the UK and Maltese regulatory boards).

These countries are restricted from playing at this casino:

  • Argentina
  • Azerbaijan
  • Bangladesh
  • Belgium
  • Brazil
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Georgia
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Indonesia
  • Israel
  • Lithuania
  • Portugal
  • Puerto Rico
  • Singapore
  • South Africa
  • Spain
  • Ukraine
  • United States
  • United States Virgin Islands
  • Venezuela

Software Suppliers

Originally a NeoGames site, Karamba along with the Aspire Global team have added a whole roster of additional software partners for their offering. These include the following companies:

  • Amaya
  • Blueprint Gaming
  • ELK Studios
  • Evolution Gaming
  • Microgaming
  • NetEnt
  • NextGen Gaming
  • NYX Gaming
  • Play’n GO
  • Realistic Games
  • SG Gaming
  • Williams Interactive

The Good Stuff

Excellent VIP Program

Green Thumbs Up

I like any company that gives me all the information I need to make an informed decision. As you will read in the VIP section of this review, Karamba’s VIP Program has something for everyone and takes you through to each level in great detail. More casinos should follow this lead; dangling carrots in front of players that they can actually reach is an excellent way to nurture a loyal relationship.

Multiple Vendors to Choose From

I like that the company has elected to work with many software partners. This accomplishes two things for Karamba: pitting them against one another should give the casino the best rates from the different vendors, and it also allows them to use each company’s best games without having to take too many unpopular titles.

The Bad Stuff

Very Limited Table Games

Red Thumbs Down

I will admit I am completely stumped by this one. It is one thing to say your casino is focused on slots players; it is something completely different not even to offer a full suite of Table games. With several platforms to choose from, the fact that there are only a couple of digital table Games options (as you will read about later) is utterly stunning. I hope the casino has a change of heart and adds more games for non-slots players.

No Jackpots

With some of the largest software suppliers in their arsenal, I was very shocked to find out that there are literally no progressive jackpot games running at Karamaba. There must be a back story to this decision; perhaps they didn’t want to pay the premium to enter into the networked progressives, or maybe Aspire Global doesn’t have the rights to those games. Whatever the case may be, not having any big jackpots to play for is going to be a disappointment for slots players.

Game Selection

Slots

When looking at the Karamba slots section it is evident that the management team behind Karamba have set the casino up to cater to slots players. You will see that as soon as you hit the lobby; the site has cherrypicked the best games offered by their multiple software vendors to provide an excellent suite of titles that is in no way overwhelming. With so many different pay lines and styles of play, including some amazing bonus games and second screen play, you are bound to find a game that brings you enjoyment. Have a look at some of the slots titles we like the most:

Table Games

My first move when I start playing an online casino I am reviewing is to load up one of my favorite games, Pai Gow Poker. This game is a nice, calm way to get in the gambling mindset before I start hitting all the other Table Games.

So, I headed for the Karamba lobby and started searching for my favorite poker variant. I searched, then again, then other tabs (maybe it got listed incorrectly). What I found was that not only was there no Pai Gow table to be found, but many of the Table games we are used to seeing in a casino were also conspicuously absent.

Again, I understand that the Karamba team wants this brand to be slots-focused, but what could they possibly be thinking by not offering more games? I assume there is a good reason for this, but I can’t think of it myself.

At any rate, if you are a fan of Table Games like Craps or Caribbean Stud, you are out of luck at Karamba. All you will find here is Blackjack, Roulette, and 3 Card Solitaire.

Live Dealer Games

Thankfully, my frustration with this casino subsided when I found out that they had a full Live Dealer Casino available to play. The Live Dealer game experience is significantly slower than the fully digital games, but that works for me – I don’t burn through money nearly as quickly!

Evolution Gaming is one of the leaders in the Live Dealer space, and they are on full display at Karamba. You can choose from multiple tables of the following games in the Live Casino tab:

  • Roulette
  • Blackjack
  • Baccarat
  • Baccarat Squeeze

Video Poker

Karamba Deuces Wild Video Poker Screenshot

As you can already probably imagine, the Karamba casino is also a little light on Video Poker variants. This may actually be my biggest disappointment with the casino; knowing who they have on board as software partners, I could imagine the video poker selections I have been able to enjoy at other licensees. I guess that will remain a dream while I play at Karamba; here are the few options that you do have in their lobby:

  • Jacks or Better
  • Joker Poker
  • Deuces Wild

Specialty Games

This is usually a category that only features one or two games, really meant to be a time filler more than anything. This is not the case at Karamba, where the site is very proud of its selection of scratch games and other side attractions. Have a look at the roster of over two dozen Specialty Games you can choose from:

  • Power Cash
  • VIP Black
  • Wings of Cash
  • Lucky Moments
  • Hit The Bank
  • 3 Wishes Keno
  • Glamour 7s
  • Wizard of All
  • Keno Deluxe
  • Cash Rumble x10
  • Keno Blast
  • Wild Win Doubler
  • X&O
  • Slot 777
  • Starlight Dazzle
  • Lucky Machines
  • Roll the Dice!
  • ICE
  • 7th Heaven
  • 7 BOOM
  • Cash Farm
  • KENO
  • Sampo
  • GO 777
  • Golden Island
  • Lucky Charms
  • Happy Birthday
  • Ocean Pearls
  • Disco Keno
  • Royal Slots
  • Club Pearl

Promotions

Well, with a rather confusing roster of games reviewed, it is time to turn our attention to the different promotions and offers being run at Karamba.

Welcome Bonus

OK, I am going to start here with the Welcome Bonus. It is typically the most attractive offer that comes from the casino, with the hope that it will entice you to make your first deposit. Here is the breakdown of the Karamba Welcome Offer:

  • Day 1: receive a 100% Bonus up to $200 plus 20 free spins
  • Day 2: Receive 40 additional Free Spins
  • Day 3: receive yet another 40 Free Spins and an additional Bonus Surprise!

So, right out of the gate I think this is an excellent offer in that it rewards you on multiple days, giving you the incentive to come back on consecutive days. Let’s dig into the Terms and Conditions and see what we can find.

The “Welcome bonus” is limited to one bonus per household.

The “Welcome bonus” may not be used in conjunction with any other bonus, promotion or offer.

The “Welcome bonus” must be wagered at karamba.com within 21 days of being credited to your account. karamba.com reserves the right, at any time, to revoke any welcome bonus not used within the allotted time period.

Please note that in the interests of fair gaming, we require you to have wagered a minimum of 35 times the sum of your welcome bonus before cashing out any winnings

Ok, well that actually isn’t all that bad. 35x the bonus amount is fair, even if Karamba does not have that many table games for you to play. 21 days to complete the bonus is also a very fair number; if you are going to play regularly, then you should have no trouble meeting the requirements to convert the bonus.

Your Daily Karamba

There is a small icon in the shape of a present at the top of the Karamba homepage; if you click on it and have an account, you will be rewarded with what they call their Daily Karamaba. This is constituted of a special daily offer that changes all the time; sometimes it is Free Spins, sometimes a draw, or even a challenge to complete. I like these types of promotions, because although the prizing may be small, it is enticing to a player who wants to see what the daily prize is, and once they are at the site, it is more likely that they will log in and play a bit.

Monthly Cashback Promotion

This is an excellent promotion to keep losing players around by giving them a small insurance policy on their losses. There are some restrictions on this program at Karamba; have a read, and you will see:

SO, WHAT IS CASHBACK?

Monthly cashback is a bonus which acts as a kind of insurance, giving VIP players money back if it’s not been their lucky month.

CAN I GET CASHBACK?

Yes, you can! If you’re a Platinum, Premium or Prestige VIP player, you will already be eligible. If not, contact our support team on chat to find out more about climbing the VIP ladder to qualify. Climb all the way to the top, and you’ll enjoy getting even more back every month!

WHEN WILL I GET IT?

The cashback bonus is issued on the 3rd Monday of the following month and covers the previous month’s full calendar.

I am a little disappointed that this is reserved for only three levels of the VIP Program. It seems like it would be easy enough for the casino to extend this offer to everyone who plays (even with an opt-in clause). Maybe they will make changes to this program in the future.

Banking

A casino that focuses on European players has to be prepared to use many payment solutions localized for each market. This is excellent news for players but can be a headache for the people in their payments department.

At Karamba, you are not going to have an issue getting your money to the site. As far as withdrawing the cash, there are fewer options, each with a waiting period. The e-wallet payments tend to be processed much faster as they require only a one-touch approval.

Comp Program

The Comp Program is set up at Karamba with some different parameters than I am used to seeing at other online casinos. It still works the same in that you earn points for playing real money games, and can convert those points into cash. However, the value of the points is dramatically different than other sites. Here are the details:

You earn one point for every $40 you wager in the games. You can convert your points to cash via a sliding rate scale, dependent on your VIP status in the casino. The worst of these rates is 30 points for $1, and the best is 15 points for $1.

The bottom line is that fewer points are being accumulated in your account, but since you also have to redeem less, in the long run, it is just a different way to skin the cat.

VIP Program

The Karamba VIP Program is extensive in both detail and scope. It has seven distinct levels, which you are entered into right after your first deposit. Having this many levels means they can walk every player through the VIP process, giving all players the chance to move up with time and play.

Here is a breakdown of the program’s levels:

Customer Service

I have come to expect a certain level of customer service in the online casino world; it is 2019, and there really is no excuse a casino can give not to have staff available 24 hours a day to manage customer requests and complaints. At Karamba, they fall short of this standard by only offering customer service from 6 am to midnight GMT. To me that seems ridiculous; they don’t shut the doors of their casino between those hours, so why wouldn’t they have at least one staff member on duty?

During the hours they are available, there are multiple ways to contact their team. There is a Live Chat feature which you can see on the side of each of their webpages; the team is reachable with one click of the icon. They also have an email address you can use to send them your query, but I would stick to the Live Chat so you can get your issue resolved with someone on the line. Finally, if you want to speak to someone on the phone you can call their telephone customer service, but you should be prepared to pay a long distance fee to do so.

Would I Play at Karamba Casino?

The decision to recommend this casino to you is split right down the middle. If you are primarily a slots player, then the number and variety of available machines are worth you giving it a try. If, however, you lean towards playing Table Games, then Karamba is going to be a disappointment. So, take that honesty with you when you check out their website, and if you do decide to give them a try, I’d love to hear what you think!
