As the fable goes, everything King Midas touched turned to gold. It is no surprise to find a wave of casinos with a Midas theme to them; the color gold takes the mind to dreams of riches, all of which you hope to achieve at the casino. However, in our review of Casino Midas, I am going to get to the bottom of some other issues.

Is this casino just a mirage? Is there any chance of anything turning to gold?

You can expect nothing less than a very honest, legit review of this casino site which you should read before you make any decisions about depositing your hard-earned money.

About Casino Midas

Casino Midas Header

Casino Midas has been in existence since 2012. Now that it has been in business for 5 years, I can consider it a casino that is likely here to stay; if it hasn’t run out of money or into too many issues by now, then you can rest easy that it isn’t going anywhere.

The owners of the casino are listed as the Midas Entertainment Casinos, based in Curacao. This doesn’t tell me much about them, but I did some research and determined that they aren’t owners of any other online casinos, despite what some other sites would have you believe. The casino is also licensed in Curacao, which doesn’t really amount to much in the way of player safety; this jurisdiction is one of the easiest to acquire a license and as long as their fees are paid, the regulatory board tends to turn a blind eye to the activities of their operators.

Who Can Play at Casino Midas?

This one threw me for a loop when I looked it up. Normally, a casino gets a gaming license from Curacao to be able to take play from Americans, but Casino Midas has decided to go in the other direction. I am not sure why they have taken this position, but at least they are trying to adhere to the regulations of certain countries to avoid prosecution. The list of restricted countries is short at Casino Midas:

  • France
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • United States
  • United Kingdom

Software Suppliers

This casino has only one supplier: Real Time Gaming. The Costa Rica based software supplier has been developing games for over twenty years, and has remained one of the only software companies that still accept U.S. players. This makes the decision by Casino Midas to block Americans even more confusing.

RTG has built an impressive suite of games, including some awesome slots titles. We’ll get into a full review of the games a little later on. Their games can be played via download or in a PC browser.

The Good Stuff

Jackpots Galore!

Right on the homepage of the website, you see a scrolling banner that alerts you to the fact that there are over 7 million USD in progressive jackpots up for grabs at Casino Midas. These progressives are network-driven by many of the RTG licensees, but what that means for you is that they grow more quickly, making them more likely to burst more often!

Great Website Navigation

I don’t often comment on this, but I have to say that the Casino Midas website was one of the most straightforward, clean sites I have ever reviewed. All of the information was laid out simply, making it easy to find what I was looking for within a couple of clicks.

I am not sure if their web developers are independent contractors, but if they are, then they could be making a lot of money cleaning up a lot of cluttered online gaming sites.

The Bad Stuff

No Live Dealer Games

At this time, there are no Live Dealer games available at this casino. This is too bad, as I know that RTG partnered with a live dealer studio to be able to offer integrated games to their current licensees. I hope that the casino decides to take them soon; these games are increasingly popular and provide a whole new layer of enjoyment to the player.

Very Low Withdrawal Limit

When you play at a casino, and you happen to win big, you should be able to get your money out quickly and without any hassle. At Casino Midas, they have a limit of $3,000 per week that you can withdraw.

I don’t like this as the casino apparently allows you to make as large a deposit as you want without issue. I hope the company revisits this policy soon and loosens it up for their players.

Game Selection

Video Poker

Casino Midas Video Poker

When you are looking for video poker games in an online casino, you should be seeking what variants a casino offers (there are many) and whether you can play the games for one hand only or for multiple hands. Casino Midas is a perfect casino for me when it comes to Video Poker. The RTG games are excellent, and the payout tables are very generous. Also, the 52 and 100 hand variants of the game are awesome to play, so it is nice to see both in the lobby.

Table Games

Take it from someone who has spent hundreds of hours, if not thousands, playing RTG games – the quality is fantastic, and the selection is just as great. Whether you are expert craps player or someone looking to try out a game like Pai Gow, this casino has all the standard games as well as some you may have never tried before!

Here are all the games you are able to find in the Table Games tab of the lobby:

Slots

Casino Midas Slots

If you have played RTG slots before, you know that the quality of the themes and graphics is excellent. No matter what type of game you like to play, how many reels or pay lines you like, or denomination you want to bet, there is going to be something for you at Casino Midas. While the sheer volume of games isn’t as high as some of the other software companies, the quality more than makes up for it.

I won’t list all the slots available at this casino here; you can see the full list in their lobby. However, here are many of the titles I have come to enjoy over the years.

Promotions

Casino Midas Promos

The casino has several different types of ongoing bonuses, all of which you can see on their promotions page. Also, you should expect to receive many emails from this casino with enticing offers to get into the game and play. For this review, I am going to focus on the two Welcome Offers that are available for new players. Here is how they work:

Up to $/€1,500 to Claim in 3 Easy Stages:

  • Upon your first deposit, double your money with a 100% bonus, up to $500
  •   For example, deposit $100, and we’ll give you another $100 – total $200 to play with!
  •   With your second deposit get a slightly larger, 150% bonus, up to $500 (bonus code WELCOME150)
  •   Make your third deposit to triple your money with a 200% bonus, up to $500 (bonus code WELCOME200)

This offer is available to be earned on all casino games. However, if you are a slots player, then they have an offer exclusively for you!

Mega Bonus of 100% up to $3,333!

That’s right. You can get a $3,333 match bonus if you are willing to make that big deposit. Bear in mind that to earn that whole bonus, you will have to meet the wagering requirement of 25x the deposit+bonus, which may be tough for most players.

Banking

Since the casino has chosen not to take players from the United States, they opened the door to having more traditional forms of payment processing. However, not having a license from Malta or the UK hinders their efforts to sign on with many of the European-facing providers. Regardless, there are a good number of options for you to make your deposits and withdrawals.

Deposit Options

  • Delta
  • MasterCard
  • Neteller
  • Paysafecard
  • Ukash
  • Visa Debit
  • Visa Electron
  • Visa
  • Entropay
  • Internet Banking
  • Skrill

Withdrawal Options

  • Bank Wire Transfer

Comp Program

The Comp Program at Casino Midas is very easy to understand. When you are playing real money games, you earn one comp point for every $1 you wager. That sounds great but bear in mind that to redeem these points for cash, you need to convert them at a rate of 1,000 for $1 (and the minimum amount you can redeem is 3,000). This is a standard comp program, with a couple of twists: when you are playing their Game of the Month, you earn double points and depending on where you stand on the VIP Program, you could also earn more bonus points.

VIP Program

The team at Casino Midas has clearly spent a lot of time developing their VIP Program. It looks very detailed and has several tiers to it, each unlocking a new level of service and rewards. They have a straightforward chart to show you how you can move between levels and what benefits come with each move:

VIP Benefits Silver VIP VIP ELITE VIP PLATINUM
How to Become a VIP 200,000 Comp points + $3,000 Deposits 500,000 Comp points + $30,000 Deposits 1,000,000 Comp points + $60,000 Deposits
Comp Points Accumulation (bets) $1 = 1 comp +25%* +50%* 100%*
Tuesday Reload $200 $500 $500 Up to €500
Weekend Madness $200 $500 $500 Up to €500
Weekly Cashback 10% up to $2,000 On a personal basis On a personal basis
Bet/deposit limits Improved Improved Improved
Withdraw Policy Up to 96 Hours Up to 48 Hours Up to 24 Hours Up to 12 Hours
Personal Account Manager Yes Yes Yes
Exclusive Gifts and rewards Yes Yes Yes
Free bonus Max cash out x 10 from the coupon amount Max cash out x 10 from the coupon amount No max cash out from the coupon amount Yes (Special)

As you can see, when you jump levels, your whole experience at the casino improves. I like the attention to detail of this program; I have reviewed too many over the years that don’t provide players with nearly the same benefits of the one offered at Casino Midas.

Customer Service

Casino Midas offers players customer service 24 hours a day via live chat, email, and telephone. Well, at least they say they do. In the two hours I spent reviewing the site on the day I wrote the review, the Live Chat agents were always busy, deferring me to a web form to “leave them a message.” I am not sure if there were actually agents there, as I can’t imagine why they would be so backed up with customer inquiries.

I will test it again another time and will update this review if things change.

Would I Play at Casino Midas?

This casino is one of the mid-tier casinos on the market today. With Real Time Gaming as their supplier, you are going to get high-quality games, but not as many as a licensee of one of the larger software companies. The progressive jackpots are huge, which is a nice touch if you are a slots player. This is especially true if you take advantage of their aggressive slots-only Welcome Bonus.

Overall, I love the look and feel of the site, and I want to see these guys succeed. You can see the attention to detail put into this casino when you look at the website development and programs like their VIP Program. I would have no problem recommending this casino to our readers, and if you end up making a deposit here, we would love to hear about your experience so we can continue to improve our reviews.
