Continuing our theme of nautical-themed casinos, this is our review of the Lucky Admiral Casino.

I am not entirely sure what makes the Admiral so lucky, but I am not here to judge the theme.

The website is littered with nautical puns, which is also a bit of a turn-off for me, so let’s skip that part and jump right into our review, shall we?

About Lucky Admiral Casino

Lucky Admiral Header

Lucky Admiral was launched in 2012, and while the owners are listed at Jumpman Gaming, it appears that the group has a strong relationship with Cozy Games; in fact, they could very well be the same company. Now, I don’t really care if that is the case, except that Jumpman openly licenses their software to other operators, which could be considered a conflict of interest. However, we are here to review the games, not the business practices of their software vendor.

The casino has a UK Gambling Commission license, which is excellent news for players who are concerned about their balances. These days, you can never be too protective when it comes to your money, so knowing that this casino is being watched over by one of the most prestigious gambling authorities should give players more confidence in this brand.

Who Can Play at Luck Admiral Casino?

Unfortunately, the UK licensing also comes with a pretty restrictive list of countries that are not allowed to play at Lucky Admiral. Apologies for this long list, but if you see your country listed here, you may as well skip to another one of our site reviews:

  • Afghanistan
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Albania
  • Armenia
  • Netherlands Antilles
  • Angola
  • American Samoa

Software Suppliers

Depending on what you read, the Lucky Admiral Casino is powered by Jumpman Gaming or by Cozy Games. Either way, what you are getting is a casino featuring over 200 games, with lots of variety in the slots catalog. As you will see in our detailed review of the Game Selection, if you are not a slots player then you will find a limited number of games to play at this casino. The casino also offers a selection of games from Microgaming, but not the full suite of games at this time.

The software is available to play in Instant Play format, meaning you do not need to download a client to your machine to jump in and enjoy the games. One thing to note is the dedication to making sure these games are mobile-friendly; you will see that the quality of their mobile platform is as good as some of the top software suppliers in the industry today.

The Good Stuff

Website navigation

I am a stickler when it comes to the design of a casino site; not the theme or the graphics, but the ease with which I can find the information I am looking for. At Lucky Admiral, they do an excellent job of keeping everything clean, leading me to the promotions quickly and on to the casino lobby without much interference.

One promotion I want to single out more than the others at this casino is the Spinathon. This is a leaderboard promotion that gives away £1,000 in cash each week to the most active slots players. There are two things, in particular, I like about this promotion. First, it gives me the motivation to play consistently for an entire week. Second, the promotion pays out 25 spots, which is much more than these promotions usually pay. Yes, while 25th place only gets £5, but for a slots player that can still be a nice prize!

The Bad Stuff

Payout limits

Once you have won some money in a casino, it would only seem logical that you should be able to withdraw that money. IN many cases, online casinos have a fraud department that checks all withdrawals to ensure that nothing strange has gone on to accumulate the winnings before issuing the payment. While casinos are allowed to put whatever limits they want in place, Lucky Admiral goes too far with a maximum of £5,000 per month as a limit for withdrawals, including if you win one of their big jackpots. This is ridiculous and designed to keep as much money on the site as possible. I am hopeful that the casino will change their policy, but at this stage, it seems unlikely.

Bonus T&C

Yikes. I had a look at the Terms and Conditions of the site, and when it comes to bonuses, you have your work cut out for you. Have a look at this:

The following applies to all bonus funds (obtained through free spins, redeposit bonus, or manual bonus credits added by the company) unless otherwise stated in the specific terms and conditions for a particular promotion. You agree by accepting the terms and conditions to wager 65x the amount deposited + total amount of bonus won + any remaining bonus in the bonus balance prior to cashing out. If you decide to cash-out before fulfilling the wagering requirement, you will forfeit all remaining bonus funds. For example, if you deposit £10 and receive a combined (free spins and % match) £20 bonus, this will result in a wagering requirement of £10 + £20 (£30 total) X 65 = £1,950

A 65x play through on deposit and bonus is outrageously high compared to other casinos, and when you couple that with the fact that basically, you can only clear bonuses on slots games, then it makes these bonus dollars almost worthless.

Game Selection

Lucky Admiral Slots

Lucky Admiral clearly has a focus on slots players as a driver of revenue. This isn’t entirely shocking; the group seems to operate some bingo sites, and the relationship between slots players and bingo players has been proven over and over. In the slots lobby, you are going to find some great themed games (thankfully they aren’t all nautical slots), and the games we tried had excellent pay line structures and bonus screens, all adding to the overall enjoyment. Table Games

Unfortunately, there is a significant drop-off when comparing their slots lobby to the offering of Table Games. This is pretty disappointing to me as I much prefer sitting at the Blackjack tables to playing long slots sessions. It is a bit of a head-scratcher especially given their software suppliers, but for now, this is what you will find in the Table Games area of the Casino:

  • American Roulette
  • Blackjack
  • Casino Hold’em
  • European Roulette
  • Punto Banco Pro
  • Roulette Master
  • Single Deck Blackjack
  • TXS Holdem Pro

Video Poker

If I thought the Table Games selection was poor, then the Video Poker options at Lucky Admiral are downright depressing. Again, I don’t quite understand the theory here except that perhaps their relationship with Microgaming was only for some slots games that would appeal to the cross promotion of their bingo players. Regardless, as someone who can put in a video poker session of several hours in length, it is disappointing to not find more variants at this casino.

  • Jacks or Better 1-Hand
  • Deuces Wild Double Up
  • Joker Wild Double Up

For me, this is a reason to play at another casino, but I understand that this may not be a big deal to many of you reading this review.

Specialty Games

The casino does offer a couple of specialty games in their lobby, but with sister sites that focus on bingo and keno, I would imagine they are already marketing these sites to their current Lucky Admiral database. Still, you will find these options at this casino:

  • Keno
  • Lucky Keno
  • Rio Bingo

Lucky Admiral Promotions

Well, if you have read this review to this point and still think that Lucky Admiral is worth checking out, then it’s time to see if their marketing department can make up for some of the games that are lacking in the lobby! At first glance, the promotions page of the website has a lot of fun-sounding offers; let’s focus on a few of them in a little more detail.

Welcome Bonus

Of course, the first place I always stop when checking out a casino offering is the Welcome Bonus. If you have read my reviews of other casinos, you will know how much weight I give to the Welcome offers when rating a casino. To me, it is the first impression a casino can make; they need to dangle a carrot that is worthy of you taking out your wallet and making a deposit. The Welcome Bonus at Lucky Admiral looks like this:

  • No Deposit Bonus of 10 Free Spins on the Fish and Chips slot machine
  • 1st Deposit: 100% match bonus to maximum of £200 + 20 Free Spins on Starburst
  • 2nd Deposit: 100% Match Bonus +20 Free Spins
  • 3rd Deposit: 100% Match Bonus +20 Free Spins

Now, this is where it gets confusing. Forget about the horrible Wagering Requirements we discussed earlier; in the Terms and Conditions for the Welcome Bonus, it says that the maximum you can receive in bonus is £200. What it doesn’t say is if that is per deposit or total. If it is the total amount, then really the second and third deposits don’t matter; just make the first deposit of £200. I am hopeful that this is just poorly written.

Pizza Club

So, this is an interesting promotion as it has a tangible reward; free pizza! To qualify, you need to be a VIP player (we’ll get to that shortly) and play your favorite slots games on Sundays. Each week, the top 5 players from a wagering perspective (total wagers in slots) will receive a coupon for free pizza the next day. While this promotion isn’t offering a huge prize, I give the casino credit for putting a different spin on rewards; the value of the pizza is only a few dollars but not having to make a meal is worth something a little extra.

Mystery Thursdays

Ah yes, a mystery offer! Many people like this idea; not me. I always want to know up front why I should be logging into my account on particular days, so having a “surprise” offer just doesn’t resonate with me. However, I am likely in the minority when it comes to this, so for those of you who feel lucky, you should log in every Thursday!

Lucky Admiral Banking Options

Given the fact that the casino has a license from the UK Gambling Commission, it gets access to much better payment options than many other unlicensed casinos. As a result, you will have no issues making deposits and withdrawals (except for the stupid limits they have on taking your money out).

Deposit Options

  • Maestro
  • MasterCard
  • Neteller
  • Paysafe Card
  • Solo
  • Switch
  • Ukash
  • Visa
  • Visa Electron
  • PayPal

Withdrawal Options

  • Maestro
  • Solo
  • Switch
  • Visa
  • Visa Electron
  • MasterCard
  • PayPal

VIP Program

Lucky Admiral offers its players the opportunity to become Very Important Pirates (sigh…) through their VIP Program. At the casino, you can earn Kudos points for making deposits versus playing games. For every £1 you deposit, you earn 1 Kudos. These don’t seem to have any cash value, but they do determine where you sit in their VIP program. The program comes with multiple levels; here is what each level looks like:

Level Newbie Expert Pro VIP Legend
Weekly Cashback No 1% 3% 5% 10%
Free Spins 0 5 10 25 50
Birthday Bonus Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
Requirement – collect Kudos Up to 100 Kudos 101 – 1,000 1,001 – 2,500 2501 – 5,000 5,000+

So, when you look at this, what do you see? What I see is a way to jump levels right away just by making a larger deposit! Now, once you are in a level, you need to play a certain amount to maintain your status; here are the rules for each level:

  • Legend: £20,000+ wagered per month
  • VIP: £5,000+ wagered per month
  • Pro: £1,000+ wagered per month
  • Expert: £100+ wagered per month

To be honest, these are a bit small, so it should be relatively easy to maintain your VIP status once you reach a particular level. The rewards scheme isn’t exactly earth-shattering, but every little bit helps when trying to be a profitable player.

Customer Service

If you are trying to reach Lucky Admiral to address an issue you have with the casino, you will be able to contact them through three different methods; email, Live Chat and Whatsapp. I applaud the casino for getting with the times and adding a function like Whatsapp, but I wonder how many agents have access to that service at one time. Certainly, for me, the most obvious choice is to click on the Live Chat link and speak directly with a representative in real time.

Would I Play at Lucky Admiral Casino?

I was hoping this casino would have more promise given the fact that it has Microgaming as one of its partners. Sadly, it seems to have more negatives than positives in my opinion. Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t give them a try; if you live in one of the countries that can actually make a deposit here, the slots games are worth playing, especially if you want to collect bonuses and play their Spinathon weekly promotion. Aside from that, however, you may find that your needs are better met at another online casino.

If you decide to give these guys a try, please send us your feedback. All the information we gather from our readers goes right back into these reviews to make them as detailed and relevant as possible.
