Continuing on a theme of casinos that are trying to attract a particular market, here is my review of Indio Casino. Immediately upon arriving at their website, I notice the Indian flag colors all over the page, and it is evident from the graphics that the Indian market is the focal point of this company’s marketing. However, is this all window dressing?

Does this casino actually care about where you are coming from? My honest review of Indio Casino will uncover any blemishes and will provide you with all the information you need to make a decision about joining this site and playing for real money.

About Indio Casino

Indio Casino Header

This casino comes with a lot of baggage, at least according to the reports I read on many sites when I was prepping for this review. The site has been open since 2003, and in the beginning, the ownership group faced major backlash from players due to some unethical business practices. The most notorious of which was seizing money from player accounts due to some “bonus spirit” infractions, causing a major uproar in the player community.

In 2011, the casino was sold to the Rand Logic Group, who also operate African palace and Grand Reef casinos. It would appear that this ownership group are on the ball and are cleaning up the messes of the previous owners, so I am willing to move forward and look towards the future for this brand.

The Rand Logic Group is a company based in Curacao, and the casinos have their license from the same location. This is one of the easiest places to get a casino license so I wouldn’t give this much weight in your decision; historically, the regulatory board hasn’t had much power over rogue casinos, and really just cares about getting its monthly fees paid on time.

Who Can Play at Indio Casino?

When I first read that this casino was licensed in Curacao, I naturally assumed there would be very few restrictions on who could play their games. That is definitely not the case; the casino has a strict list of countries that are banned from the site (probably due to their software provider). So, until there is some change in the way the world looks at online gaming, the following countries are on the Restricted List at Indio Casino:

  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Cyprus
  • Czech Republic
  • Estonia
  • France
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Macau
  • Netherlands Antilles
  • Philippines
  • Portugal
  • Puerto Rico
  • South Africa
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

Software Suppliers

Indio Casino has one software partner, and it is the best on the market in my opinion: Playtech. The folks at this development company have worked diligently over the last 15 years to become the industry leader, providing licensees with excellent games built on a back office platform that allows management to run the casino with an attention to detail not many other providers can match.

One thing that is odd about this license of the Playtech software is that many of the slot titles I am used to reviewing are missing from the lobby. Perhaps it has to do with their arrangement, but I am a bit dismayed to see some games missing. Nevertheless, the games that are available showcase the excellent development work and you will enjoy them just as much.

Playtech’s games are available via an Instant Play browser version, or you can choose to download the casino right to your computer. There is no native app for your mobile devices, but most of the Playtech portfolio is available to play via your device’s browser.

The Good Stuff

Jackpot Games available

Good Stuff
Well, at least the big network progressive games are still available on this version of the platform! You have a chance to become an instant millionaire by playing any of the games that are listed in the Progressive Games tab of the casino. You will see a couple of them are missing (like Jackpot Giant) – the casino probably didn’t want to pay the fee to join this already large progressive, choosing to wait until it hits and is ready for re-seeding.

Choose Your Currency

I like it when a casino gives me the option of choosing the currency I want to play in. Most times, your deposits are converted to USD or EUR, and that can make it a little more confusing to determine how well you are doing at the tables. At Indio Casino you have several currencies to choose from; in theory, it also changes the numbers in the promotions, but it appears that they are having some issues with those figures updating in real time on their website.

The Bad Stuff

Horrible Web Design

Bad Stuff
When I was looking around the casino website for information, I found a couple of repeated banners, some links that weren’t clickable, and overall just a terrible experience. Thankfully, if you read reviews like this one, you won’t need to spend much time on a casino’s site; you can head straight for the games. However, this lack of attention to detail is a bit disturbing.

No Live Dealer Games

This is surprising to me; even though it is evident they don’t have a full license of the Playtech software, I would have thought that both sides would have pushed to launch these popular variants on this platform. Playtech has their own Live Dealer studio, so it isn’t a case of having to integrate a third party game into the back-end. I hope that players at this casino will be able to enjoy these games soon and that it is just a work in progress.

Video Poker

Indio Casino VP

Playtech’s Video Poker selection is one of the best in the online casino market. However, it appears a couple of the variants aren’t available at Indio Casino, which is a little disappointing. As a player that is looking for extreme value in an online casino, the video poker machines are at the top of the heap. In fact, the 2 Ways Royal games that Playtech offer have a payout table of almost 100%, which is exactly what I am looking for when making real money bets.

That’s ok, I will get over it. There are still lots of options available for you, many of which come in multi-hand versions as well. Take a look at what you will see in the lobby:

  • Aces and Faces
  • Joker Poker
  • All American
  • Jacks or Better
  • Deuces Wild

Table Games

The full suite of Table Games from Playtech is on display at this casino. Blackjack players will be the happiest about this; there are no less than 7 different types of Blackjack to choose from, including one of my favorites, Blackjack Switch. You will also find the full list of traditional table Games in this list; jump in and get to playing some of these greats:

  • Baccarat
  • Blackjack Pro
  • Blackjack Surrender
  • Blackjack Switch
  • Blackjack
  • American Blackjack
  • Perfect Blackjack
  • Caribbean Poker
  • Casino Hold ‘Em
  • Casino Reels
  • Casino War
  • Craps
  • Double Attack Blackjack
  • Genie’s Hi Lo
  • Let Them Ride
  • Lucky Blackjack
  • Pai Gow Poker
  • Poker Three
  • Pontoon
  • Red Dog
  • Roulette
  • Sic Bo
  • Single Deck Blackjack
  • Tequila Poker
  • Wild Viking

Specialty Games

There are a group of gamblers that actually prefer to play games that are more lottery-based; even though the odds are stacked against them in these games, they are more enjoyable than the repetitive nature of games like Roulette and Blackjack. At Indio Casino, you will find many of these games in the lobby; you can choose from the following casual games:

  • Around the World
  • Wheel of Light
  • Rock Paper Scissors
  • Final Score
  • Roller Coaster Dice
  • Penalty Shootout
  • Mahjong
  • Mega Ball
  • Pachinko
  • Heads or Tails
  • Jackpot Darts
  • Keno
  • Knockout
  • Derby Day Horse Racing
  • Dice Twister
  • Bonus Bowling
  • Bingo

The site puts their promotions into three categories: Welcome Bonus, Daily Bonuses and Weekend Bonuses. I will review them all in more detail here:

Welcome Bonus

This is far and away the most aggressive of the bonuses offered by this casino. First off, you have the opportunity to earn up to $5,000 in bonus dollars, which is significantly more than many other casinos. The Welcome Bonus is split between your first four deposits, in the following manner:

  • 1st Deposit: 50% to $500
  • 2nd Deposit: 60% to $1,000
  • 3rd Deposit: 75% to $1,500
  • 4th Deposit: Mystery Bonus to $2,000

So, you will have to deposit a lot of cash to maximize the bonus, but that is fine in my opinion. The casino doesn’t want to be scammed by bonus hunters, so being loyal has its advantages here. There are a couple of terrible Terms for this promotion; first, the wagering requirement is a staggering 40x the Deposit+Bonus. That is almost impossible to attain, even for the best gamblers. Also, the most you can walk away with is 3x the Deposit+bonus from this promotion. In any case, if you are willing to give it a go, at least the potential is there for you.

Daily Bonuses

The site touts having bonuses for you every day if you want to make a deposit; let me quote directly from the site here:

Join us every day as we give all our players a bonus on every single deposit made on the day. All you have to do is download the software and sign up. Simply deposit and play anytime on Mondays and you’ll automatically receive your bonus as soon as you have made your deposit!

See any issues there? I sure hope this is just a typo, but aside from it saying that you have to play on Mondays, nothing is telling you what the actual bonus is! This kind of oversight drives me mad sometimes.

Weekend Bonuses

Ok, at least here they tell you what the bonus is: on weekends, if you make a deposit, you can find out how to earn up to 100% in bonus bucks. Side note: they consider the weekend Thursday to Sunday at Indio Casino!

Overall, I have seen much better promotions from other casinos; this leaves me wanting more from the marketing team.

The banking options at Indio Casino are definitely weighted towards European players; that is fine, as many of the top providers are listed as possibilities. For me, especially with casinos like this one, I would stick to the e-wallet solutions, as they are the ones that get you paid the fastest when it is time to withdraw.

Deposit Options

  • Bank Transfer
  • Delta
  • Neteller
  • Paysafecard
  • Skrill
  • Visa
  • Visa Debit
  • Visa Electron

Withdrawl Options

  • Bank Draft
  • Check
  • Neteller
  • Prepaid ATM
  • Skrill
  • Wire Transfer

Comp Program

The casino does offer a comp program to its members, although the details of the program are a bit vague. Have a read, and you will see what I mean:

Everyone who plays at Indio Casino with a real money account earns comp points. The more you play, the more comp points you get and the more comp points you have, the larger the rewards. You start accumulating points the moment you begin playing. These points keep you moving up the VIP ladder, and with that constant moving up, you earn bigger and better rewards.

I still know nothing about the program after reading that statement. What I was able to determine is that this program follows the standard Playtech comp rules; for every $10 wagered in the casino, you will receive 1 comp point. When you have reached 100 points, you can redeem them for $1 of cash in your account. This rate changes as you move up the VIP levels.

VIP Program

The VIP Program seems to have a little more structure to it; there are still some vague details on what rewards you receive, but at least we have a sense of what you need to do to qualify for each level of this multi-tiered program.

VIP Level Comp Points Required Min Deposits (lifetime) Convert your Comp Points to Cash $
Stone Register a Real Account 0 NA
Copper First successful deposit 1 100 = $1
Bronze 500,000 $5,000 100 = $1
Silver 1 500,000 $15,000 100 = $1
Gold 2 500,000 $25,000 95 = $1
Platinum 5 000,000 $50,000 90 = $1
Diamond 10 000,000 $100,000 85 = $1

Now come on – no one is getting to the Diamond level, are they? And only for a 15% improvement in conversion rate after wagering 100 million dollars? This is a joke.

The casino touts all these rewards as part of the program:

  • Various Banking Options – We have a wide variety of safe and secure depositing options available, putting YOU in control.
  • Free Transfers – As one of our VIPs, your cash and wire transfers will be FREE with the compliments of Indio Casino.
  • 24/7 Support – We’re at your beck and call, 24/7 via phone, email or online chat to ensure you get all the information you need to enjoy a truly magical Indio experience.
  • Over 200 online casino games – With all the games we have on offer, we’re confident you’ll be racing up our VIP ladder in no time.
  • Complimentary – Indio Casino will convert your Comp Points to cash.
  • Massive Bonuses – As you progress up our VIP ladder, Indio Casino will be offering you bigger and better promotional offers, rewarding you with more money to spin and win. The higher your VIP level, the bigger your bonuses.
  • Increased limits – As you progress up the VIP ladder, we will increase your chance of snagging that big jackpot with increased deposit and betting limits.
  • Personal Attention – One-on-one support for all your personal gaming needs – no more waiting.

Did you get that? Basically, you get nothing; some free transfers and some more personal attention where you can complain about this crappy program.

Customer Service

Despite it being a VIP perk, anyone in the casino can actually reach them 24 hours a day to answer any customer service queries. You can contact the casino directly by telephone and Live Chat, or use one of the many email addresses designed to get your question to the right person more efficiently.

Would I Play at Indio Casino?

While the review started off well; I see a new ownership group and a great software vendor, which should be a good sign of things to come. Sadly, as I dug deeper into the review, it started to go off the rails. Without a full complement of games from Playtech, the casino seems to be lacking something. Also, the promotions come with an absurdly high wagering requirement. Finally, the comp and VIP programs are complete garbage.

While I am sure the people behind this brand are lovely people, and I hate doing this, I cannot recommend this casino to you at this time. There are far better options for you to get the most out of your deposits and your overall gaming experience.
