Black Diamond Casino Review

Bet NowBlack Diamond Casino 200% bonusBonusClaim Bonus

Let’s get one thing out of the way right from the start: I don’t like fluffy reviews of anything. Like you, I want to cut through all the crap and get an honest review of any product or service, so I have a pretty accurate idea of what is in store. This is particularly the case of online gambling sites, so be prepared for a review that is detailed, informative, and most of all honest.

Black Diamond Casino has been around since 2009, which should be considered an excellent start. Casinos that care approaching being in business for almost a decade have to have more good things happen to them than bad, but that doesn’t exclude this casino from having somewhat of a checkered past. They are owned and operated by the Engage Entertainment Group out of Antigua, a division of the Deck Group of companies, and they are licensed in Curacao. All this adds up to players likely never finding out the names of any of the actual owners, but since  I don’t plan to invite them over for tea, it isn’t that big deal.

It appears that over the years, Black Diamond Casino has had several different software suppliers. It’s hard to say why they switched so many times, but as someone who likes to have some consistency when I show up at a casino, that piece of information can be a bit discouraging. As for right now, it seems that Black Diamond has settled on content from multiple suppliers, including Betsoft, Pragmatic Play (formerly TopGame), Visionary I-Gaming and Octopus Gaming.

Before  I dig deep into the review of this online casino, I have to mention one of my aggravations right out of the gate. The URL for this casino is, which is important to know because if you select the .com address for the URL, you are taken to Zynga’s waste of time social casino games. I am confident you came to play for real money, so make sure to bookmark the Black Diamond homepage, so there isn’t any confusion.

OK, with that little rant out of the way, let’s move on to the review:

Who Can Play??

Most casinos make it very clear to their players on their website who is allowed to play and which countries are restricted from playing.  This is not the case with Black Diamond.  I have searched all over their site for this information, and I cannot seem to find it anywhere.  Having reviewed several reviews of this casino, I was able to piece together the best guess as to the countries that are restricted.  They include:

  • Bulgaria
  • Canada
  • Costa Rica
  • Israel
  • Netherlands Antilles
  • Poland
  • Romania
  • Russia
  • Sweden
  • Ukraine
  • United Kingdom

It’s probably a good idea to contact the casino to see if your country is on the restricted list before going ahead and creating an account.  I can tell you as I am sitting in Canada and able to play the games that even though your country may be listed, it may not, in fact, be restricted in the way you might think.

The Good Stuff

Instant Play Games

In this day and age, having to download a piece of software to your computer is pretty much a non-starter for a lot of folks, myself included, so it is nice to see that Black Diamond offers their games in an instant play mode. For a long, while their casino was download-only, so it seems they have figured out that the rest of the world had moved on and now they are in a competitive position in the very cluttered online casino industry.

The Black Diamond Casino games are also for the most part available to play on mobile devices. Again as they are browser-based games, this won’t present itself as an issue with the different mobile service providers or the various platforms like Android and iOS.

Multiple Content Providers

As mentioned above, Black Diamond Casino brings several different vendors into their lobby. Every software vendor has their own look and feel to their games, so having multiple options to choose from is often a beautiful thing to see when you log into a casino. While the suppliers that Black Diamond has selected aren’t exactly top-tier casino developers, there is still an excellent array of games for you to try. This is most evident in the slots lobby, where you can find dozens of different titles to choose from.  Here’s a sample of some of their most popular games:

  • Video Slots
  • 3 Genie Wishes
  • 7th Heaven
  • Aladdin’s Treasure
  • Aztec Treasures
  • Beowulf
  • Back Diamond
  • Black Gold
  • Charms And Clovers
  • Daytona Gold
  • Dragon Kingdom
  • Dwarven Gold Deluxe
  • Frankenslot’s Monster
  • Genie’s Fortune
  • Gold Diggers
  • Great Reef
  • Hercules Son of Zeus
  • Hot Safari
  • Kawaii Kitty
  • Lost
  • Lost Inca’s Gold
  • Lucky Seven
  • Mamma Mia
  • New Tales of Egypt
  • Ocean Fantasy
  • Quest for the Minotaur
  • Reel Gangsters
  • Slotfather JP
  • S Iet Surprise
  • Tales of Egypt
  • The Catfather
  • The Catfather part II
  • The Curious Machine
  • Treasure Room
  • Treasure of the Pharaohs
  • Trolling for Treasure
  • Viking and Striking
  • Voyager’s Quest
  • Weekend In Vegas
  • WhoSpunIt Plus
  • Wild Sevens
  • Witches Cauldron
  • Wolf Gold™
  • Classic Slots
  • 888 Gold
  • Bankroll Reload 1 Line
  • Berry Flavors 3 Lines
  • Big Bang 3 Lines
  • Bingo Slot 3 Lines
  • Bingo Slot 5 Lines
  • Black Diamond 5 Lines
  • Crazy Pizza
  • Diamond Progressive
  • Diamonds are Forever 3 Lines
  • Fandango’s 1 Line
  • Fandango’s 3 Line
  • Fruit Slot 1 Line
  • Irish Charms
  • Kings & Queens 3 Lines

  • Russian Attack 3 Lines
  • Sweet’s Surprise 3 Lines
  • Treasures of Pharaohs 5 Line
  • Tropical Punch 3 Lines
  • Tropical Punch Night Dream 3 Lines
  • Wild Sevens 5 Lines

There should be enough choices there to make most slots players pleased with their decision to join Black Diamond.

Customer Service

Black Diamond Casino seems to have a focus on keeping their customers happy by ensuring that they are reachable at all times. They offer 24/7 customer service by both email and live chat. The live chat option is only available to real money account holders, but to be honest who needs free play junkies clogging up the customer service lines (more on that later).

One other feature that I like is that the FAQ section of the Black Diamond website is actually quite helpful. I like to consider myself quite resourceful, and I don’t need a lot of hand-holding when it comes to making my way around an online casino, so it’s nice to see clear FAQ pages with simple answers.

The Bad Stuff

It can’t all be good, right? I mean, who reads a review of a casino and sees only pleasant things to report and actually believes that crap. Black Diamond Casino is not without their faults, and reviews like this one hopefully will help then fix some of the issues, so  I don’t have to be as mean next time.

Look, I get it. A casino doesn’t want you to walk away with their money if you get in and happen to go on a winning streak. Black Diamond restricts their players to weekly cashout limits based on their VIP Status in the casino. I don’t like the way that works – they don’t ask you to hold back some of your chips as a live casino if you are a new player and win. Here is a breakdown of the withdrawal limits:

  • VIP Basic Level Members have a C$500 maximum withdrawal limit per week;
  • VIP Silver Level Members have a C$750 maximum withdrawal limit per week;
  • VIP Gold Level Members have a C$1,000 maximum withdrawal limit per  week;
  • VIP Platinum Level Members have a C$3,000 maximum withdrawal limit per  week;
  • VIP Titanium Level Members have a C$10,000 maximum withdrawal limit per week;
  • VIP Master Level Members have a custom maximum withdrawal limit per  week

On top of this, there is a hefty amount of information you need to provide to process these withdrawals. Here’s what that looks like:

  • Valid government-issued photo identification card;
  • Copy of a recent utility bill no older than three (3) months prior to the submission date;
  • Front copy of the Card(s) used to fund the Account.
  • Credit/Debit Card Vouchers of all cards used in the past six (6) months

While I know security is important at an online casino, you shouldn’t need FBI-level clearance to get your winning sent to you. I hope that the site can continue to work to improve this for all of us moving forward.

Promotion Confusion

After I had registered for the site, I received an email from the Black Diamond customer service team, welcoming me to the site. Normally, I like to receive all communication from a casino, so I don’t miss out on any offers, but also to compare what the casino tells me via email versus what is written on their site.

The first thing I noticed in the email was that they claim to have over 1,000 exciting games online. I am no mathematician, but I can’t find 1,000 games any way you add them up when I am on their website. There is no need to pad the stats here, people – I am fine with a couple hundred game options in my casinos.

Second, they advertise in the email a “2200% BONUS on each of your first deposit”. I am already weary of this offer as it seems to be a typo and also in poor English, so I went to the Black Diamond website to confirm the welcome bonus. There are a lot of promotions that look like they change on a regular basis so I won’t list them all here, but let’s look at their Welcome Package.

Welcome Package:

  • 25 Free Spins at account signup
  • Deposit Bonuses on your first 5 deposits:
    • Deposit 1: 200%
    • Deposit 2: 100%
    • Deposit 3: 100%
    • Deposit 4: 100%
    • Deposit 5: 175%

And that seems to be it. No indication of the deposit limits (aside from a line saying there is a minimum deposit required, but no figure attached). This may be the casino trying to keep it simple, but there isn’t even enough information here to clearly tell us if  I should make a deposit or not. This is aggravating, and just the fact that someone like me with all the experience I have couldn’t figure this out makes it daunting for first-time players.

The UGLY Stuff

Here’s where I have to roll up my sleeves and get a little dirty with Black Diamond Casino. I am, for the most part, a table games player. When I sign up for a new casino, I like to have a look at all the games a casino has to offer and then maybe try out a couple of hands with play money. This gives me a feel for the speed, card sizes, animations, etc. so I am not distracted when it comes time to play for my real cash.

I was happy to see loads of table games available at Black Diamond (more on that later), but then I went to sit at one of the games and was informed that I did not have enough funds to play the game. The site then prompted me to make a deposit. Hey, let’s not get too frisky here, Black Diamond… I am here to test out the goods first, ok? Now I was on the hunt for my play money balance…and I found nothing. No play money versions of their games. WTF? You cannot be serious.

It took me a while to figure out that I could generate an account balance with my 25 Free Spins, which I could then use as “real money” at the table games. This is bullshit. I don’t want to have to scurry through 25 spins of Slots just to try out the table games. And then when I go back to the blackjack table I tried to play earlier, am I playing with money I can cash out? Or play money? Or bonus money? All of this actually put me off my first gaming experience at Black Diamond, and I am recommending that they put a genuinely free play option in for their games, so they don’t scare away possible depositors.

Casino Game Catalog

I already gave you the list of all the slots games earlier in our review, so here is a list of all the other games you will find at Black Diamond Casino:

Live Dealer Casino Games

I love live dealer games.  I am not shy about admitting that fact; the sight of an actual dealer makes me feel like I am in a real casino rather than just playing a video game.  I also love watching these dealers have to deal those ridiculously oversized cards they use so  I can see the numbers…it must take some special training to now mess that dealing up.  Oh…and a little eye candy doesn’t hurt late at night either.

Black Diamond Casino spreads the following games via their live dealer casino:

  • American Roulette
  • Blackjack Classic
  • Super 6
  • Baccarat
  • Roulette

Table Games

I am always looking for something different at a blackjack table, as I find the standard game to be boring at times.  Of course, I know all the bonus features are designed to give the player more attractive betting patterns but always increase the house edge, but I don’t mind.  As long as I am informed of the game’s rules, I can make a decision as to whether or not to play.

Black Diamond Casino has a full selection of table games in their casino, and you can clearly see that they are looking for players like myself who are attracted to the bells and whistles of bonus games.  Here’s what they offer today:

  • Double Exposure Blackjack
  • Baccarat
  • Electronic Roulette
  • Royale BlackJack
  • Roulette Titanium
  • Multihand Blackjack
  • Crystal Roulette
  • Roulette Black Diamond
  • Zoom Roulette
  • Vip American Roulette
  • European Blackjack
  • American Blackjack
  • Common Draw Roulette
  • Vip European Roulette
  • European Roulette

Video Poker

I am going to try, to be honest here – I am a video poker junkie.  I love to play the game and find myself playing all the time when I get bored.  I had planned on writing a lengthy review of the video poker variants at Black Diamond, but then I got on a roll at Multi-Hand Bonus Deluxe…and kinda ran out of time.  The gameplay speed seemed excellent to me (certainly good enough to take my money), and Black Diamond definitely have enough versions of the game to keep everyone interested.

  • Pyramid Jacks Or Better
  • Multi-hand Double Jackpot
  • Multi-hand Bonus Deluxe
  • Joker Poker

  • Neteller

  • Bank Wire

The promotions at Black Diamond Casino seem to be all over the map.  There have been rumors of major promotions either not being paid out or being faked in the past, but let’s just assume for the sake of this review that the current promotions are legit until  I hear otherwise.  There are currently about 8-10 ongoing offers on the site, but I am going to focus on a couple of the more attractive ones:

Welcome Package

I mentioned this bonus package earlier in the review, but here it is again.  There isn’t much to the welcome package at Black Diamond, but that is fine as long as you don’t’ mind a simple promotion.  You will receive 25 Free Spins at account signup without making a deposit, which is limited to specific slots titles.  After that, should you decide to make a deposit, the site offers different bonuses for each of your first few deposits:

Deposit Bonuses on your first 5 deposits:

  • Deposit 1: 200%
  • Deposit 2: 100%
  • Deposit 3: 100%
  • Deposit 4: 100%
  • Deposit 5: 175%

Smokin Aces Blackjack Tournament

This looks to be a promotion that rewards players for activity at the blackjack tables.  Here’s how the casino describes it:

Take a seat and join the hottest monthly Blackjack tournament around! Every month you are invited to battle it out in our Smokin Aces tournament. Each day place as many bets as possible to grab a spot on the exclusive leaderboard. The players with the most bets will take the top spots for the chance to win C$21,000 CASH each month! Enter today and become an elite Blackjack player!

I put aside 21K in CASH for the winner, and  I double up prizes with another 21K in CASH for the rest of the top ten players!

Now, I must admit I am a bit confused by a couple of things here.  First off, the promotion claims to pay out the prizes in Canadian dollars, which I can only assume is being updated with geolocation based on where I have logged into the site.  That does seem a bit suspicious as I believe the promotion is meant for everyone across their player base.  Second, the promotion does not culminate in a tournament, it really is more of a leaderboard promotion, paying out $42,000 in total to the top ten players.  There is a leaderboard on the site, but it doesn’t seem to be updating correctly.

I really hope this is a promotion they can sort out from an administrative aspect because I love a good leaderboard style of offer and making it a blackjack-focused one is right up my alley!

500k Guaranteed Slots Leaderboard

This promotion just seems a bit far-fetched.  It appears to be a promotion for high rollers, with the minimum deposit to qualify for the leaderboard set at $1,000.  Then as far as I can tell, the promotion runs on a weekly basis, with players earning points for every dollar they wager in slots for the 48 hours between Friday 12:01 am and Saturday 11:59 pm.

With the first prize of $150,000, this is a no brainer for me – the risk of $1,000 in deposits is worth it to try to take a run at all these prizes.  Having said that, I cannot find a list of winners of this promotion anywhere online, so I am a bit concerned that this may be a bit of smoke and mirrors and the Terms and Conditions will make this a sucker’s promo.  Black Diamond, I am counting on you to keep this a legit promotion, or the updated review of this site may end up being a little more vulgar.

For a look at all the current promotions on Black Diamond, you can visit their promotions page on their website.

Would I Sign Up At Black Diamond Casino?

Black Diamond Casino has seen a lot of change in the years since it opened in 2009, and while there have been a few complaints found on forums, many of them seem to be older complaints or ones that have been resolved by the casino itself.

The casino has an excellent selection of games to play, featuring multiple software vendors which provide a lot of different content across the slots games menu. As for the table games, they are serviceable but not the best I have seen by a long shot. The graphics are simple, but the hands are dealt quickly, so for those of you who like to focus on playing, then they will probably work for you.

Black Diamond’s promotions are disappointing, especially the welcome bonus. I know these promotions often change, but you will find much more aggressive promotions on other websites that  I have reviewed here at Legit Gambling Sites.

The lack of an easy free play option is incredibly frustrating and short-sighted. Black Diamond should know that players want to try out their games in a fashion that suit them, not the casino. Jumping through hoops (or spins) to accumulate bonus chips with which to play is an old tactic one I don’t particularly care for.

Overall, Black Diamond Casino is a workable casino for those who don’t want any bells and whistles and who are fine with an older style of table game play. For the reasons explained in this review, I can give Black Diamond Casino a passing grade, but barely – it might be worth it to you to spend some more time reading some of our other reviews before you make a deposit at this casino.
