The New York Knicks head West and take on the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.
The Knicks head to Dallas with four straight losses and they will be welcomed by former star player Kristaps Porzingis whose Mavericks are looking to win their third straight contest. The Knicks were blown out by the Pistons 102-122 in their last game played while the Mavericks head to this game after a one-point win over the Orlando Magic. This will be the Knicks’ first game against Porzingis.
The New York Knicks are struggling again this season as they are 1-7 SU to start the year. Right after the Knicks picked up their first win of the season last week against the Chicago Bulls, they have dropped four straight games and are coming off a blowout loss at the hands of the Detroit Pistons.
Marcus Morris leads New York 17.9 points per game while rookie R.J. Barrett is also scoring 17.9 points per contest this season. The newly acquired Julius Randle is putting up 14.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per outing while also leading the Knicks in passing at 4.2 assists per game.
New York’s struggles can be linked to their offense as the Knicks are next to last in the league in scoring at only 99.9 points per game this season. They are ranked 19th in rebounds with 44.9 boards per contest and are 3rd from the bottom in assists at 19.8 dimes per outing. The Knicks are 15th in defense at 110.4 points per game this season.

Off to a Good Start
The Dallas Mavericks are off to a good start this season. The Mavs are 5-2 SU to start the year and are seeing their European stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis playing good music together. Porzingis will have extra motivation here as this will mark his first game against his former team.
Doncic has been sensational this season as he is averaging 26.7 points, 9.9 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game in his sophomore season. Porzingis looks good after missing time due to injury. The Latvian unicorn is putting up 19 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest. J.J. Barea is also contributing 11 points and 3 dimes per game for Dallas.
Dallas is one of the best offensive teams in the NBA at 115.3 points per game scored this season. They are 4th in rebounding at 48.3 boards hauled per outing. The Mavericks are tied for 11th at 24.7 assists per game and they are allowing their opponents to score 111.3 points per game this season, 13th best in the league.
New York is 1-8 SU in their last nine games played and the Knicks are 0-5 SU in five road games this year. Dallas is 5-2 SU in seven games played this season. The Mavericks are 2-2 SU in four home games played this year and 5-1 SU in their last six games played against teams from the Eastern Conference. Head to head, the Mavericks are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games against the Knicks.
The Knicks are off to another slow start and this looks like another long season for New York fans. Marcus Morris and R.J. Barrett have been the bright spots for the Knicks but the rest of the team needs to pick up their games and contribute more. That’s easier said than done though for this rebuilding team.
Dallas is having a good start behind the brilliance of Luka Doncic. The Mavericks are also getting good contributions from his supporting cast with nine players averaging at least 8 points per game this season. Porzingis should have extra motivation here playing against his former team.
I think that Dallas has too much firepower for the Knicks to keep up with. I’m looking at another triple-double threat from Luka and Porzingis playing a big game against the Knicks.
Other Bets to Make
The Knicks are 2-4 ATS in their last six games played. New York is 3-2 ATS in their last five road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games against the Eastern Conference. The Mavericks are 3-4 ATS in seven games played this season and Dallas is 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games. Head to head, the Mavs are 2-1 ATS in their last three games played against the Knicks. However, New York is 5-1 ATS in its last six road games in Dallas.
- Knicks +11 (-108) | Mavericks -11 (-112)
- Odds from BetOnline as of 11/07/19
The Mavericks have outscored the Knicks by an average of 4.9 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 9.33 points per game in their last three head to head games. The Knicks have lost by at least 12 points in four out of their last five losses while the four of Dallas’ wins have been by single digits. Porzingis is playing against his former team and I’m looking at Dallas blowing out the Knicks here.
The total has gone under in six out of the last seven games played by the Knicks. The under is 3-2 in New York’s five road games this season. The total has gone over in each of the last six games played by the Mavericks. Dallas has seen the total go over in three out of their four home games played this season. Head to head, the total has gone under in seven out of the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
- Over 217 (-110) | Under 217 (-110)
- Odds from BetOnline as of 11/05/19
These teams have combined to score a combined 198.5 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 211.67 points in their last three head to head matches. New York is the second-worst scoring team in the league right now. The Mavericks are a good scoring team but the Knicks have played decent defense this season and they should be able to hold the Mavericks to below their average. I like these teams to play to the under here.
