Milwaukee Bucks vs Denver Nuggets 03/09/20 NBA Betting Odds and Preview

Milwaukee Bucks vs Denver Nuggets Logos - NBA Logo

The Milwaukee Bucks visit the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center on March 9, 2020.

The Bucks head to Mile High after losing to the Phoenix Suns one day earlier. Milwaukee has dropped its last three road games and they will be without Giannis Antetokounmpo for the second straight game due to a minor knee sprain suffered during Friday’s loss to the Lakers. The Nuggets are coming off a shocking loss to the Cavaliers in Cleveland. This game, however, is played in Denver where the Nuggets are 24-8 this season. Denver defeated Milwaukee 127-115 in their first meeting of the season.

Without Giannis

The Milwaukee Bucks suffered a 131-140 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. The Bucks played without 2019 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo who missed the game with a minor knee sprain. The loss was Milwaukee’s third straight on the road and their third in their last four assignments.

Without Giannis, the Bucks turned to their other All-Star for offense. Forward Khris Middleton poured in 39 points to lead the Bucks. Eric Bledsoe added 28 points and issued seven assists for Milwaukee. Brook Lopez scored 18 points and Donte DiVincenzo chipped in 16 points.

Milwaukee is the highest-scoring team in the league this season at 118.8 points per game. They are ranked 3td in scoring defense at 106.8 points per game allowed. The Bucks are the top rebounding team in the league this season and they are 6th in the NBA in passing at 26.0 points per game this season.

Moneyline Odds:

The Denver Nuggets suffered their second loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night. The Nuggets fell to the short-handed Cavs 102-104 for their third loss in the last five games. With the loss, Denver fell to third place in the Western Conference, 7.5 games behind the top-seeded Lakers and one game behind the second-seeded Clippers.

Will Barton led the Nuggets with 22 points and 8 rebounds while Jamal Murray added 17 points and seven assists. Gary Harris scored 18 points and picked up five steals but Nikola Jokic was held to 8 points on 4-11 shooting from the field. Denver scored just 41 points in the second half and they are just 4-5 SU in their last nine games played.

Denver ranks 20th in the league in scoring at 110.6 points per game this season. They are 19th in rebounding at 44.3 boards grabbed per contest and are 4th in passing at 26.6 assists per game. The Nuggets have the 8th best scoring defense in the NBA at 107.6 opponents points per game allowed.

Who Wins?

Milwaukee is 15-5 SU in their last 20 games played. The Bucks are 4-3 SU in their last seven games played on the road, 15-5 SU in their last 20 games against the Western Conference, and 6-1 SU in their last seven games against the Northwest Division. Denver is 5-5 SU in their last 10 games played. The Nuggets are 7-2 SU in their last nine games played at home, and 10-5 SU in their last 15 games played in March. Head to head, the Nuggets are 15-4 SU in their last 19 games played against the Bucks.

The Bucks lost to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night as they played without Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak suffered a minor knee sprain during the Bucks’ loss to the Lakers last Friday. Antetokounmpo is also expected to miss this game and without him, the Bucks are in trouble.

Denver hasn’t played that well as of late but they have taken care of business at home, losing just twice in their last nine games played at the Pepsi Center. Jamal Murray has looked good in his recent outings and Nikola Jokic will be looking to bounce back after a subpar performance.

The Nuggets are 24-8 SU at home this season and while the Bucks are 25-8 SU at home this season, they have lost their last three games and will be without Antetokounmpo on Monday night. Denver is playing at full strength at home against a Milwaukee team without its best player.

ODDS-190

MY PICK:
Denver Nuggets

Other Bets to Make

The Bucks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games played. Milwaukee is 1-5 ATS in their last six games played on the road. The Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games played. Denver is 3-3 ATS in their last six games played at home, and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against the Central Division. Head to head, the Nuggets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games played against the Bucks.

Spread Odds:

  • Bucks +5 (-109) | Nuggets -5 (-111)
  • Odds from BetOnline as of 03/09/20

Without Giannis, the Bucks are an entirely different team. The Greek Freak led the Bucks in many statistical departments so they will not only miss his scoring but his overall contributions to the team. Defensively, the Bucks will struggle to contain Jokic with Giannis out as the Lopez twins aren’t as good as the 2019 MVP on defense. This is a great opportunity for Denver to pick up a big win and I think they will take advantage.

ODDS-111

MY PICK:
Nuggets -5

The total has gone under in six out of the last seven games played by the Bucks. The under is 4-3 in Milwaukee’s last seven games played on the road. The total has gone over in 10 out of the last 15 games played by the Nuggets. The over is 4-1-1 in Denver’s last six home games played, and 5-2 in their last seven games against the Eastern Conference. Head to head, the total has gone over in seven out of the last 10 games played between these two teams. The over is 5-0 in their last five meetings played in Denver.

Over/Under Odds:

  • Over 222.5 (-110) | Under 222.5 (-110)
  • Odds from BetOnline as of 03/09/20

These teams have combined to score an average of 220.7 points per game in their last 10 meetings and 226.33 points per game in their last three head to head encounters. Denver has allowed their opponents to score 112 or more points in four out of their last five outings and even if the Bucks will be without Giannis here, Milwaukee put up 131 against Phoenix on Sunday. The Nuggets know how to slow a game down and play in the half-court set but knowing that Milwaukee is without their top player, I think the Nuggets will be willing to go toe to toe on offense.

MY PICK:
Over 222.5
